Manchester City FC can confirm that Benjamin Mendy has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The French defender sustained the injury during the first half of the Saturday’s 5-0 Premier League victory at home to Crystal Palace.

After initial tests in Manchester at the start of the week, Benjamin travelled to Barcelona to see a specialist doctor, where further examinations of the knee today confirmed the extent of the injury.

Benjamin will undergo surgery tomorrow in Barcelona, and everyone at the Club wishes him a speedy recovery.

mancity.com will bring you regular updates regarding his rehabilitation.

Fuck.

Great.

Quite annoyed to see that on both positions where we are in the open, something happend as soon as the transfer window ended. Kompany injured as everyone predicted, as we failed to sign another top defender, while our only left back looks like has the season over as soon as it started.

Fuck. Are there any examples of young, speedy players rupturing their ACL who still play at the same level (or better) once they recover?

well there's Bendy of course, a couple of years back playing for Marseille but don't know if it was as bad a tear as this one :(

Sad for Bendy.

Even worse is that Delph has been recalled to the England squad on the back of his recent displays. Hope he doesn't get crocked on international duty.

A shame, he did not even had the time to show us what he is good for. So far he`s been more impressive on social media :)
Not so sure using Danilo will be a step back for us.

The problem is that Walker has a record also. If one of Danilo and Walker gets injured also, that would be a huge blow for our title chances.

Another 60 million in January so.

Forget about Sanchez. I really think that ship has sailed anyway.
If he's free in summer and still prefers us, so be it. Otherwise we have more pressing problems in January.

Fack sake, may I get crucified for I felt this big stick coming up my arse since the moment I saw that leg twisting!!!
and I know jack shit of orthopedics.

thanks Big for timed supply of very interesting info, indeed.

Also, I know I am often accused of sudden falls in men love, but don't we actually wanna start a plea to replace the Con's puppet with Johnny Crossan? I mean, not only the man have found that Espaniol's Aaron Martin, whose thread I totally lost to my utter shame, but now also come up with a French free agent, there for the take... if only the window...

Seriouly, I guess PP would probably keen on... and at least a little infusion of Mancunian blood among the Spafia won't hurt.

I'm sure there're stop gap options out there for much less. E.g. Werder Bremen's Swedish left back, Augustinsson, would do a good job for about a tenth not that price, and at 23 he could be a back up for years.

I'd like a CB too Nool.

Even if those two are fit it still is a huge blow. We lost an outlet on the left and No, Danilo simply can't offer what Mendy did.
Other players need to step up until January and then let's see what we can do in the market
