Chilwell looks good but previous rumours have linked us with Sandro in January

Kieran Tierney at Celtic would cost around £20m and a few more loan players heading that way will ease the deal.

Consistently a better player than Andy Robertson and will be playing for a top 6 EPL side soon so I'd prefer it to be us given the problems we've had with Mendy.

The timing of this is interesting, he seemed to finish the derby no problem which suggests this is something he's been carrying and this surgery was preplanned.

I remember when we were linked with Lucas Hernandez. If only. That ship has long sailed.

Finally he's able to get back to what he's really good at. Injury FC should sign him permanently.

Surely CM & LB are our two top priorities for the summer

We need a specialist left back, this is getting silly with how many games Mendy is injured. Hope he gets well soon, he is by far our best LB option

Mendy had already missed 7 games this season with a bruised metatarsal. He missed last season and had one long term and one medium term knee injury before we signed him, on a 6 year deal. We need a specialist left back. Delph does fill in well but his injury record is terrible too. I'm glad we keep Zinc. He will do a decent job for us but he's not the man for the job when we play Chelsea etc.

To be fair, Mendy is genuinely injured i. e. his injury shows up on the xray.

Mendy went to France with their squad, meet up. I had assumed he picked up the injury with them?

Alex Sandro might be available in Jan? Juve were after Marcelo from RM, but we would face tough competition from Chelsea and maybe others.

I wondered if Pep's visit to BM was sounding out if they might let Alaba go? Purely my own speculation.

Sessegnon from Fulham would be a good buy

I was looking at the typical recovery time for his injury, which is a small tear to the meniscus. After surgery it's in the region of 1-3 months.

So it's 1-3 months before he gets injured again. We do need to get a left back in. The transfer window is 6 weeks away unless we have a gem in the academy. It's a real shame for the lad but he's one of those that gets injured so easily, even without any contact.
