Lawro & DC predictions v Arsenal (H)

Lawro & DC predictions v Arsenal (H)

Postby Wonderwall » Fri Nov 03, 2017 10:45 am

Lawro and DC revert to type today, Lawro has gone back into 2-0 mode and DC has gone back to his mumbling bollox calling Arsenals football "Flamboyant"

Lawro, who drew with England cricketer Jimmy Anderson and beat his team-mate Moeen Ali last week, steps into the ring with WWE wrestlers Cesaro and Sheamus - the tag team known as 'The Bar' - for this weekend's fixtures.
Irishman Sheamus, 39, says he has been a "massive" Liverpool fan since the age of eight, drawn to the Reds by compatriots Ray Houghton, Steve Staunton, Ronnie Whelan and John Aldridge helping them - along with Lawro, of course - to win several trophies in the 1980s and 1990s.
Cesaro, from Switzerland, says he supports his national team but also follows West Ham, Stoke and Arsenal in the Premier League because they have Swiss players - Edimilson Fernandes, Xherdan Shaqiri and Granit Xhaka - in their squads.
"I support my Swiss people," he says.

Lawro says

At the moment there is no stopping Manchester City, but it can change. It can change for a variety of reasons, mainly injuries and loss of form, but they are on a fantastic run having taken 28 points from a possible 30 in the Premier League this season.

People are saying 'give them the title now' - but the Premier League is a slog. They are in all competitions and that takes it toll eventually.

Arsene Wenger has always gone to the top teams and said 'right, we will play football'. I can't see Arsenal going there and saying 'let's attack them' because if they do that then the gates will open.

However, Wenger did go to City a few seasons ago with a plan - and they won 2-0. But I think, plan or no plan, City will win.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Cesaro and Sheamus' prediction: 3-1

Merson says

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/ ... redictions

Arsenal went to Chelsea a few weeks ago and got a comfortable goalless draw and I thought the penny had dropped. They did it two years ago at Man City and won, although [Santi] Cazorla was in the team then and he was their best player.

But since that Chelsea game I said, 'OK right, let's wait and see till the next big game and see if the penny has dropped, or was that just fortunate?' And it all depends on which way he [Arsene Wenger] sets up…

But I cannot go for anything other than a City win given the way they play. If anyone is going to go there and win, believe it or not, you would go for Arsenal as they play a flamboyant way, they open the game up.

And if you are going to beat City, you have to have a go. There is no point sitting back and saying, 'right, let's try and nick something on the break,' as they have too many good players who are going to break you open before the end of the game.

But I am going to go 3-2 to City as I think there will be goals.

Paul predicts: 3-2 (Sky Bet odds 7/2)

changing the notion of "how far City have come" by the season. :D
Nice remark, FiBD.

btw, literally on topic, I am a little shy and ashamed to ask but, am I right to think that DC, in most traditional of our recurring thread titles, stands for "degenerate cunts"?
must admit I was used to the original wording of "Lawro and Degenerates" and feel a tad embarassed at not being sure if I get it right.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

In talking about the way Arsenal play and how to beat us, it seems as though he tacitly disapproves of the Mourinho method.
