my memory (a very fading one) start off an early spring 1970 game where my granddad managed to have me grabbing a Buzzer signed shirt.
from then on my best guess is SWP, the lovely whirligig midget. sure I am not gonna get cigar with this, tho.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

Probably Buzzer.
He quite often turned up legless after pissing it up with Bestie.

Bestie was not only the best Munchenhauser ever (imho), but also the only decent human being of that lot (as far as I am aware).

Oh my...
to think by few months that could have been my first City game... would have avoided quite an embarassment!
obviously I didnt recall that, but was it a Roy_Keane-sque kinda tackle... or just another very strong challenge, so popular in the English heated games, moreso then than now? honestlly asking...

still, through my evidently exposed ignorance I do consider Georgie best a special character and one of the greatest players eva :o

It was out and out, pre-meditated thuggery, taking place near the touchline, only a few yards away from where I was standing.

Best launched himself with both feet and Pardoe had to be rushed to hospital, coming within a few minutes of losing his leg.

Totally disgusting and on a par with Buchan and Colin the King.

why/how is that JC?
only Swiss have, possibly, a steadier reputation on keeping secrets, than us on surrendering... should track too much back in the history book to change the very fact. ;)

stands little comparison with Charles Laughton's Sir Wilfrid Robarts, and in general, imho

MC, you must by now be aware of my (often irrational) hatred and disgust at anything rag.
That said, I think you're over the top with this one, in fact I'm not sure you're talking about the same incident. I remember, (and before I posted this, checked) that the tackle was nowhere near the touchline, but just outside our box in the middle of the pitch.
I thought at the time, and having watched it again, that it was a late challenge that went horrifically wrong. Best was doing a lot of those sort of challenges in that period as his skill and ball control were being seriously diminished by the self abuse he was inflicting on himself with the booze.
TBH, looking at the tackle, it doesn't appear that dreadful, especially in the context of the time.
I really don't believe it was malicious, just clumsy and ill advised, with horrific consequences.
And I don't think it can be compared with the Buchan tackle on Colin Bell, which was indeed pre-meditated thuggery.

I was at the game PB with two 'friends' who were Scum fans.

We were at the front of the stand, low down and almost level with the pitch and, from memory, I thought it was close to the touchline; wrongly as you pointed out.

I've just been watching it again on Youtube and, from a greater camera hight, the incident didn't look as bad, as it seemed from the lower angle we were watching from.

I still maintain it was atrocious and, all credit to them, so did my two friends.

I will admit though, that memories of incidents which took place nearly 47 years ago, can adopt a mind of their own, especially in the context of a white hot derby.
