THE BOLLIX

Delayed, neglected . . . etc, . . . I apologise

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola keeping tabs on Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez as he weighs up his January plans
City scouts have been watching defender's performances for Sociedad during the first few months of the season
However City scouts have continued to monitor his performances for Sociedad during the first few months of the season.
And the hamstring injury which will keep John Stones out for much of the rest of the calendar year highlights how short they are in his position.
Much depends on Vincent Kompany’s latest comeback from injury as to how hard City pursue a new centre back in the New Year.
But Martinez looks likely to come into the reckoning if they do - particularly as he can also play at left-back.
Guardiola has been playing Fabian Delph there most weeks since the cruciate injury suffered by Benjamin Mendy in September.
The France international is likely to miss much of the rest of the season - although there is optimism he will play again before May.

Image
DELPHIC
/ˈdɛlfɪk/
adjective
relating to the ancient Greek oracle at Delphi.
deliberately obscure or ambiguous.

"Pep gave a delphic answer when asked about possible left-back signings in January, but surely the answer Delph would have sufficed."

Proof Arsene Wenger's comments over Raheem Sterling have really gotten to Pep Guardiola
The Frenchman was visibily frustrated when facing the media in the aftermath of the North London outfit's 3-1 loss at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the month and accused the winger of "diving well" after going down in the area under contact from Nacho Monreal.
Video footage proved there was enough contact from the Spaniard for Sterling to go down and the latter was in the thick of the action once again during City's victory over Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon.
Seconds after the restart at the John Smith's Stadium, Sterling was upended in the area by Jonas Lossl but the referee waved play on.
However, almost immediately after that incident the England international won a spot-kick after being fouled by Scott Malone and Guardiola believes even Wenger couldn't disagree with the decision.
"Two clear penalties. Maybe Arsene will say that is [a] penalty," the Spaniard told reporters.
"The penalty is more than clear. I'm impressed. He's young and he can improve. If he wants to learn then we'll be there to help him."
Sterling would go on to net the winner in fortuitous fashion as Lossl's save from Gabriel Jesus rebounded off the 22-year-old and looped into the back of the net to ensure the Citizens maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
With just 13 games played, Arsenal find themselves 12 points behind City following their last-gasp win over Burnley at Turf Moor earlier in the day.
The Gunners were disappointed as the rest of the chasing pack when Guardiola's oufit managed to churn out a victory despite not being at their best for long periods - and even falling behind - against the Terriers

MuEN BOLLOX

I misread that as 'Manchester United are looking at four-footed players', and wondered why, when they have so many donkeys already!

“”Below the belt! Defender is sent off for trying to stick finger into opponent's bum during football match in Brazil
Ponte Preta defender Rodrigo earned a red card in bizarre circumstances to help condemn his side to relegation - after trying to poke a finger into an opponent's backside.

With a fear of the drop from Brazil's Serie A on the line on Sunday, Ponte Preta were leading relegation rivals Vitoria 2-0 before collapsing to a 3-2 defeat that sent them down.

The catalyst, on 20 minutes and with that two-goal lead in hand, was the sending-off of Rodrigo – the centre back being dismissed for his assault on Rodrigo Tellez

Television replays showed Rodrigo grabbing the Vitoria man from behind and appearing to jab a finger into his backside in an off-the-ball situation.
Ponte Preta promptly surrendered their lead, falling behind with eight minutes remaining before their fans invaded the pitch to have the match abandoned, sealing their demise.

Supporters in the 13,000 sell-out crowd tore down parts of the wire fencing and charged on to the pitch, with angry supporters surrounding goalkeeper Aranha.

Most of the other players ran from the field and, although the referee waited almost an hour in the hope of restarting the game, he ruled that the players’ safety could not be guaranteed and abandoned the match.

Club president Vanderlei Pereira condemned Rodrigo's attitude after the game, calling his red card 'childish.'
'It's no use having to think about management, technique when a player does that on the pitch. Why did Rodrigo do that? It was childish, there was no need,' Pereira said.

Vitoria, meanwhile, will fight for survival on the final day after moving up to 15th in the table. Four of Serie A's 20 teams are due to be relegated with Ponte Preta and Atletico Goianiense already confirmed to go down.””

So wee Davey Moyes is giving Unsworth advice about staying in football management and moving to a lower League team ??

If that advice is so good, why isn't Gollum taking heed of it himself, unless he intends to do that with West Ham ??
