The beauty of the gap we have opened up is that we can possibly rest and rotate in the league games whereas in the unseemly fight for the top four the others might not be able to. This might allow us to prioritise in the cup if a tricky fixture comes along.

Whilst that is an option i think pep will continue to prioritise the league and play very strong teams even if the gap remains constant. This is the one he wants and he wants to do it in style.
The fa cup has lost some of its prestige. Dont get me wrong its still a big competition but look at last season when arsenal won it for some perspective Arsenal fans still talking about how long its been since they won the league the fa cup barely registered with them.
I think we will be more likely to rotate for latter stages of champs league games than fa cup.
