Must've been a serious one as I thought that happened whilst he was with Everton early last season, or at least before Christmas?

Knee ligament injury, I don't believe the exact nature was reported.

He joined Everton on 31 January this year and was injured in his first game, must have been first week of Feb, so been out / recovering for 8-9 months. It's not surprising we've not heard from him really.

Cheers guys.

What is wrong with this fella? Why no one wants him even for a season loan?
He is not the best player in the world, of course, however, he had a lot of good games for us also. Always saw him as a big match player that knew how to play with the big clubs, but lost his concentration with the other teams.
Looks like he is stuck between two world now, like a quarantined patient that no one wants to touch.

He is out long term injured but I doubt anyone would want him anyway. He was dreadful for Everton (against Arsenal for eg) and dreadful for us. I watched him a couple of times before he joined us and he displayed no positional sense whatsoever. I'd love to know who scouted him as I found the whole deal for him and Fern 2 very strange indeed. Mangala seems a lovely lad and a proper good pro by all accounts, but he can't play. He's nowhere near Prem level in my opinion.

I think he had his good moments for us. I remember Zlatan went missing every single time he face him.
He is not good enough for us, but if Johnny Evans can get a contract, there is no reason why the Mangler wouldn't.

Mangler would be an excellent player in right team and easily good enough for anyone outside tol 6. To say he isnt prem quality is nonsense when u look at some of the defenders in the league.

I've said it before and will say it again: he would have fitted hand in glove in that Leicester title winning team.

I'd live him to do well PP but his good moments were rare. I always thought that, for a big man, he lacked strength and for a quick man he lacked a yard. He played in Spain on loan for a year and not one Spanish club made any effort to sign him.

That's more yo do with his wage than his ability I'd hazard a guess.

Yep he wouldn’t have been cheap. I doubt last year there were many in spain who could even afford a loan fee let alone anything else.

I agree. However, since we signed him 4 years ago, average wages at bottom-half Prem clubs have skyrocketed. If he's truly around the reported £65k/week and can recover from injury by then, there'll be a host of English clubs who can easily afford him next summer when his contract is up. Especially if he drops his demands slightly. Let's see how many clubs will show any interest then.

I think he would have went somewhere, but he has a long term injury I thought.

Mangala’s not been so bad...
Since he stopped playing for us.

Am I in the right thread. Or am I confusing this with the one where players have gotten better since they retired.
