MotM v Newcastle

Postby Beefymcfc » Wed Dec 27, 2017 9:54 pm

By the sounds of it (had the radio out) they put up a fight in the second half but we still went on to stop their charge.

Not sure as I didn't get the full perspective, especially with Shearer lording us and wishing for the best with the Toon, it was hard to get a handle.

So, this will be an eye-opener for me.

There was no real fight from Newcastle Beefy they were woeful pal . We did miss too many clear cut chances especially first half to kill the game and go on to rack up a cricket score but got a little frustrated at the end but never in any real danger . Would have took a 1 nil all day long , another 3 pts and we move on . Ginger Kev stand out for me , Gundogan and Bernado very good first half .
Not really here

Otter. Solid as a rock. Sterling played well again and KDB was decent but tired a bit second half.

Fernandinho was outstanding at CB when called on. Can’t believe he hasn’t had more votes.

I think Newcastle were lucky they caught us on an extremely rare “off night”.

If the first half had been a boxing match, the Referee would have stopped it at half time so dreadful were they. That was one of the most cowardly 45 minutes I have ever seen an opponent produce. They looked scared to death.

I think they realised at half time that we were not at the races tonight. We were missing chance after chance. Our passing game was all over the show. They couldn’t believe they were still in it.

I fully expected the game to end 1-1, so i am chuft to bits we won.

Any other night we come away from there with 3 points, and +5 goals tonight.

We have been spoilt this season, poor fuckers look knackered. Have seen some astonishing football played, and we are 15 points clear. Still cant believe it, so I will say it again 15 POINTS CLEAR, amazing.

I went for Raz,i cant recall a player ever improving so drasticaly as him over a season. It is astonishing.Rags were sniggering and taking the piss out of him last season. This season he has single handedly won us games with key goals and assists. :D

Of the players to have really turned it around this season, Otamendi has done it in the hardest circumstances. Had fuck all to do in the first half. That header was as good as a goal.

Bit of a shit game, way too sloppy up top.

Cheers for the back brief pal, and as you say, a win is a win, especially over this busy period - this is where most top teams slip up.

keV was mine from commentary until he disappeared in the last 39 minutes, where he was most probably running his arse off to close them down.

Otamendi got a lot of attention so it was between them 2 but I'd plump for Kev just for that cross.

I'm going to give Danilo recognition for coming back after looking well off the pace a month ago. Good on him.

It looks like there were some fine contributions to the somewhat easy game that we won, looked upon by others more favourably than ourselves ;-)

That was class. I also gave to Otter but for many other reasons. Postional play is very good , defensive duties solid - fewer lunges nowadays, a leader ar the heart of our defence , good on the ball and happy to wander into the oppo half and pick a pass. Has also bagged a few goals this season.

Massively improved and my motm tonight.

Hard to give to a defender when really they had so little to do but the Otter and fern definitely deserve a special mention. Sterling for me though. A real thorn in any defences side and a great run for his tap in.

Went with Fern, but special mention for Aguero who looked sharp as fuck again and soooooo unlucky to hit the post twice and produce an excellent save. Another night would have had a hatrick

All that is true, but I bet Raheem will be benched for the Palace game for his late match indiscretion, for holding onto the ball too long.

really only can be Otamendi imo after that sloppy match. without that header off the line we probably draw that match
