What have we learnt from today?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

What have we learnt from today?

Postby ENIAM NAM » Sun Jan 14, 2018 8:31 pm

* we didn’t play to our full potential
* dippers played like it was their cup final, as usual
* we look knackered
* danilo playing out of position and looking a weak link
* there must have been a good reason silva didn’t come on. We really needed him. Hope all is ok.
* love aguero, but he doesn’t fit into the way we play now
* we need sanchez. Don’t lose him to the rags
* we also need a left back, a centre back and a midfielder if we want to carry on competing for 4 trophies
BUT
* we are top of the league by 15 points
* we have made the best start to a PL campaign ever
* we now have a week until the Newcastle game and a run of league games where we should be able to rotate
* we have good draws in all cup comps
* hopefully quality reinforcements will arrive this month

Gutted about today’s result, but it’s never been a better time to be a City fan;

WE’RE NOT, WE’RE NOT REALLY HERE....

That none of our rivals are good enough to stop us winning the league despite our 10 minute brain fart costing us 3 points today.

He’s slow because he’s lazy. If he wanted to bust a gut he would do.

Yep. Unfortunately he doesn’t seem to have the mentality to play his usual game against them. Let’s the boos get to him.

1. We are still 15 points clear at the top of the PL
2. We never ever turn up at Anfield for some reason ???
3. Ederson isn't the finished article and is still learning .
4. An old experienced head in our defence today would have made a huge difference to the result.
5. We let ourselves inexplicably be bullied on the pitch at times today .
6. We again never gave up and came very very close to getting a result .
7. Fucking loads on here have to get over today , Newcastle and WBA at home next up onwards and upwards !
Not really here

We lost!

I'm sure the team will be learning from this over the next few days, it's how they react (c) PEP, that matters

That we're knackered after an exhausting period.

Oh, and we miss Dave, and Jesus, and Mendy ....

I'm not sure we learned this today but the lack of squad depth was evident. No Silva, no party. No left back and no cover/replacement for Sergio. We need to act n this window or we could suffer.

He has been brilliant this season pal but got totally exposed at times today through Stones inexperience Danilo not being very good and Walker another couple of concentration lapses . A calming experienced defender would have calmed the whole fucking mad 5 minutes down .

Agreed mate, a calm defender would. Otter is experienced though and I’d like to see him use that experience and help players like Stones as/when in matches by simply talking to him.

Only been one problem for me this season. When we are steam rolling sides every week, goals coming consistently from KDB.Sane.Sterling it goes unoticed.

Our game style dictates that we must defend from the front. When every Ball that goes in to the opposition penalty box to Aguero is recycled 99/9% of the time by the opposition it tells you everything you need to know about our deficiencies.

This is why Guardiola prefers Jesus to Aguero. His all round game, even when not scoring, is better suited to the collective good of the team.Aguero hold up play is shocking.

Prob with Otta is he tries to do everything when its backs to the wall , never hides etc . Stones is at least a season off being very good . Ederson had a rush of blood today and got caught up in the Anfield atmosphere , huge learning curve for him today and will be a better keeper for the experience .

Yeh I’ve no complaints about big Ed (slightly pissed off he was laughing and joking with Firmino at the final whilstle but he’s not a City fan at the end of the day).

That City players didn’t realise that there would be a caldron of an atmosphere at Anfield. How the fuck do they not know this. That’s pissed me off no end.

Nothing. Everyone is gonna have off days every now and then. It just so happened we have had hardly any all season and a good number all came at once. It's how we react and perform in the next few games that count. There are two cup competitions coming up and how we react in those two games will ultimately go some way to shaping our season.

The PL is virtually done and dusted. But I get the feeling winning just one pot would actually be a bit of a disappointment given how we've done do far. So these two cups are vital to getting the season back on track. Let's see how we do in those
