Not sure why we did that with so many years left already. Hes 29 and will be 34 when the deal ends and you never know if his form will dip.

We do, it's usually every 4th game

I think Pep likes what he sees.

Happy to hear this. He's very good now and can be depended upon (mostly),

El General is becoming a sort of Pirlo in our beloved Pep Army! Oh how he is involved!

It might have restructured his wage, as we've seen with a few other contract extensions in recent seasons, and may turn out to be financially beneficial to us in the long-run.

This is true and thats what i expect it is but why tack on 2 extra years?

Who would have thought last season that we’d have so many happy people on the board with this news.

There’s hope for Bernard then.

pure speculation from me, but they might have re-jigged the weekly wage down while lengthening the contract - he gets extra security while the club gets a bit of freed up wages - we're in a good position to negotiate bonus over weekly wage right now too after our run.

People just can't wait to sign contracts for a lower basic wage with no benefit to them.

He’s having a very good season which is still quite astonishing considering how bad he’s been in previous seasons for us, but I don’t think it warranted a contract extension. We could have waited until next season to see if he can maintain this level of performance.

It wouldn’t be too surprising for players to tel their agents to get them long term deals here with lower pay just to be onboard for the ride and the medals!

I’d love to know what Yaya is on for this last year with us.

It frees up room on the balance sheet because the amortisation cost reduces. He signed initially on a 5 year deal at around £30 months so his amortisation cost was £6m a year, this new contract means that the outstanding balance is now spread over the next 4 years which means the cost on the balance sheet becomes £3m a year.

5 years is a long contract for a 29yr old. I have seen a few stats too, the most passes in the top 5 leagues in Europe by Otter. That's pretty impressive from what he was just over a year ago.

Also, I have no idea why the club took so long to announce it as Sammy Goal stated ages ago on twitter that he had signed a new deal?

I never thought he was that bad mate. He did good things, interspersed with terrible lunges and crazy things. There was always a player in there somewhere, with a bit of guidance and a year in England.

I defended him here last season and copped a right spanking. Good to see him come good and prove the doubters wrong.

To be fair, it is difficult as fuck to find a decent defender these days, that is why we are going after fuckers like Evans.

Actually, at the moment, Otter is one of the best out there and he has moments when he is beyond shit. Just in contrast, remember I grew up with some amazing fuckers from Italy, now, looking at them, Romagnoli, who is worst than Nastasic, I considered the best young defender from there.

For three more years Otter can do the job, Imho, after than, we can use him in a Demichelis role.
