My only reservation is his height. He’s tiny. Fernandinho is 5 10 odd. Still he’s a very good player on the ground. Great dribbler with a real eye for a pass and for finding space.

Fred and Laporte, now that would be a good Jan window.
And no Evans. Yes...

Good point but then when you look at Dinho's stats of 5 aerial duels per game it is a slight concern.

True, but who is he winning them against? We will be fine as Fred is a massive 1cm taller than Kante according to Wikipedia

Do you reckon the smaller the better, perhaps?

Don't recall deJong bring overly tall either. The questions that are to be asked of ANY player who wants to play in our team are not ones of height or muscle or strength like they are at other clubs.
They are skill on the ball, being able to pass the ball, preferably at speed with one touch when required.
Stamina is a must as you will be asked to press to win the ball back and of course we usually go deep in the cups so there are lots of games to be played.
The ability to drift into space to either be able to receive a pass or create space for a team mate to receive a pass is also high on Peps list I shouldn't wonder.

If Fred can do those things he will do well for us

has anyone actually watched him play?

i read something awhile ago about him being more a playmaker of sorts. Wikipedia (i know) has him listed as an attacking midfielder.
now people seem to compare him to Fernandinho and mention him as his replacement. dont they play in two different positions? i guess positions under Pep dont really matter so he could play there.

He replaced Fernandinho at Shaktar.

That said, Fernandinho didn't play in the same position for Shaktar as he does for City, he always had a holding midfielder behind him.

Against us, yes, but sure not exactly many games.

CityWatch had a very good discussion about him by someone who has watched him a lot and isn't a City fan either, and they had a lot of positives to say about him and compared him to Fernandinho as a hard working, technically strong central midfielder.

Remember Fernadinho was also not a CDM at Shakthar really either.

When we look for a replacement for Fern, we find one with the same nationality at the exact same club.. Well done :D
