CB for France is pretty competitive and he wouldve been capped last year if he hadnt broken his leg.

Nice one, a centre back with a dodgy injury record. It's been a while since we had one of those on board.

i wouldnt necessarily call breaking a leg a dodgy injury record. its not muscular or something that'd be reoccurring.

also, assuming Mendy will drop out of CL squad to fit Laporte in?

He was right up there as one of our top performers in the opening few months.

Side to side little passes and receiving from Ederson all very much part of peps defensive system yes . Been a pub player last few weeks needs to get back right on it ASAP.

Last few games, yes.

He makes quite a few risky passes, often that help initiate the attack and have clearly led to goals.

To have a passing percentage that high given this is quite impressive, no? Who is better than him? Alderweireld? Maguire? Ottamendi (now)?

The thing with Stones, is that his occasional clanger aside, his general play (especially this season) is world class.

It's the clangers though that are edging him out of the 'world class' bracket. It's possible it may be a 'coming back from injury' thing but if he can just eradicate them, we'd have an outrageously good player on our hands.

Far better than that donkey Otamendi.

Stones is good, very good when on his game, certainly not 'world class' yet

Ottamendi has improved out of sight this season and has been our best CB by a mile , Stones was very good until he got injured . There are video clips on social media put on by city fans of Laporte , his passing ability suits peps system a tailored fit if you like plus he can defend ! Very classy CB from what I have seen and only 23 years old . Maguire is raw as fuck and massively over priced and overhyped , Alderweireld again would be massively overpriced and do we really need to do business with Spurs and Levi again ??? I don't think so and Alderweireld is 28 I think so way too old and costly .

Stones has been playing Premier League football for around 5 years and has been poor throughout that period apart from the first few months of this season. At Everton he was regularly making mistakes like he was last season for us and as he has been in recent weeks.

We’ll find out in the next few months whether he can continue to consistently perform at a top level or not.

even with a buyout clause, getting these deals done seems to take longer and longer for us every window.

I don't think it's just us sideshow..... The buyout is only the beginning, it means the selling club start to listen, nothing more.

Any decent player these days will take some sorting, it's not just a case of sale price and wages then off to medical and sign.

There's image rights, players personal sponsors (might conflict with new club sponsors), win bonuses, add ons for selling club if the player achieves what the buying club wants, oh and don't forget fucking agents slice of the pie!!!!!!

Did not see him that much play, but that snub was enough for me. I recall he refused us because he was waiting for Barcelona to come and get him, which did not happen.

Fuck him. Do not want this transfer, at least Evans will give his right ballsack for a chance to play for us.

dont recall this at all. he declined and resigned with Bibao with a bigger release clause. i wouldve thought if he was waiting for Barca he wouldve turned us down and then just waited on his imminently expiring contract before going to Barca.

per Twitter it sounds like we came back around to this one only recently (and we're already near the close of the window) so it actually is going quickly in my eyes.

I remember this quite well, will try to find a decent source also. He signed for them because, usually, in Bilbao you do not let your contract expire (same goes at San Sebastian). Barcelona wanted him, but in the end they went after Umtiti and basically, since 2016 no one went after him, including Barca.

You could probably apply that logic to a lot of players they angle for moves that don't happen and they go elsewhere it's only natural and most would do it.

As for Johnny Evans Arsenal is too good for him and his like. He can fuck right off.
