The best way of developing the likes of Brahim is to get them out on a decent loan. The trouble is it’s very difficult to find one. When they get in the first team squad they have to hit the ground running. A big test for the Club will be Maffeo. He’s been playing well and regularly in La Liga. Get him in next season as back up to Walker and rotate him. I’d far rather than that than continue with Danilo who’s a decent player to be fair. Give Maffeo a proper chance Txiki.

It's funny just like with Sanchez i cant say im bothered at all that it hasn't gone through. Both good players that PG would have probably gotten the best out of. But aside from short term injuries ( which is not really a reason to buy ) do we really need either of these players.

Cant help but agree with posters who think both these two would be potential trouble and at the same time with those saying they would be great additions.

95M is silly though and im glad City are developing a solid take it or leave it policy.

What is the bigger picture though? PG clearly is looking for more technically excellent players... to be able to compete in 4 comps ? or equally to find another player like DS and KDB who can be another creative catalyst for the whole team ?

It is too much to expect Diaz/ Foden to have that responsibility just yet.

Another way of saying the same thing is if you take Big Dave, Kev and Fern out of the picture we start to look a lot more normal and ordinary.
It could be that is what City have been trying to get... another string pulling type player or something close.

anyway Dave & Kev playing tonight so god help West Brom

Pep gave the impression we might be back in in the Summer. A bit surprised. To be honest I’d prefer Bernardo more central where his technical skill can flourish rather than on the right touchline where his lack of pace is an issue. Mahrez plays brilliantly on the right cutting in. Not sure where that leaves Sterling.

No chinners, a top player with better stats than 145 mill Phil.

Yes a good player and I certainly get Leciesters asking price (we have paid 57mil for a player with no PL experience) same as with Sanchez, another top player but in both cases I don't feel they are right for the squad as they both have destabilising traits in their personalities. Squad harmony at this stage of the season is far more important than getting a player because we have a couple of injuries. Not turning up to training makes him a bad apple imo.

Problem with going back in the summer is, unless Mahrez kicks up a proper proper fuss, then I can see prices going even more ridiculous in the summer. We need him to just fuck off ala Tevez, then we can go in with an offer of take it or leave it.

That's my point/worry thou Mase, as good a player that Tevez was, look at all the shit he caused whilst with us, I don't want players like that at City. If Mahrez does it to Leicester, he'll do it to us down the line, of that I have no doubt

Not when you end up with a pissed off player
Who you only paid 2 bob and a pkt of crisps for
65 mill was more than a fair offer . That’s just out and out greed .

in an era where the transfer prices have skyrocketed every club should be holding out for as high of a sum as they can get, while still in the realm of being realistic.

given how much Coutinho just went for i can easily see how Leicester wanted 95M for Mahrez (even if i dont agree with the valuation). plus, big-spending Man City were involved. of course they should try to get as much money out of us as they can. that's why it was so important to step away from the Mahrez and Sanchez deals; it shows other clubs that even though we've got the money we wont be pushed around and "forced" into overpaying.

and if Mahrez isnt happy that isn't Leicester's problem. he can sit and whine and rot for the remainder of his deal.

Entitled much.

They don't have to sell for any price and whether their player sulks or not is none of our concern.

We made a bid, Leicester rejected it. Let's just move on, no need for drama.

The reason Coutinho went for as much as he did is because Barca had just been given £100+ million for Neymar. Otherwise they wouldn’t have paid that much for Coutinho.

We haven’t been given nearly £100 million for anyone. So not sure why Leicester feel we’re able to pay that much for him.
