Injury update

Postby Bournemouthcityfan » Thu Feb 08, 2018 11:04 am

Can anyone set out where we are with the players who are out I think that’s Jesus, Delph,Sané, Mendy, Foden and Merlin Expected back playing would be helpful to see how we can finish the season.
I thought there was a site called the physio room or something like that may have this.
Can a kind fellow blue help out please.

Foden is back training.

As for the rest, your guess is as good as anyone else's.

Gabriel Jesus featured in a video by the club on FB, in the gym kicking a ball, can't find it now but was in the last 24hrs or so...

Foden was shown at training this morning

The OS has tweeted that Foden and Stones have returned to training. Good news, might be able to fill the bench now

Thanks every one maybe we’ll be lucky with the squad getting back to normal in time for the las quarter of the season. Be brilliant if we can meet the challenges I read mendy might even be back in time for some football.

He got packed away with the Christmas decorations, it'll be December before we see him again.

It is a strange one, didn't look a bad knock, but there has not been any info from the club or at press conferences about the length of his layoff.

It smells like they don't want to let it be known he is out for the season. To not let the media whip up a storm and give any weaknesses out. You know how the media can react, they would like to spin it that we are down to zinchenko or bust etc.

I think you're right. That's probably why he's started rotating Danilo and Zinch - if Delph would be back soon, he would probably dare to rely more heavily on Zinchenko. (Although, I also do think that the reason Danilo played against Burnley was to accommodate for their physical forwards and their playing style with long balls and high crosses.)

It's not fake news. It looks like Leroy was with the group but apparently did not do much of the training. It does suggest he may be back a bit quicker than feared though. No Merlin though.

All our injured players in the last 18 months or so seem to come back 1 or 2 weeks early. If its the club tempering expectations I like it, if its the type of superhuman players we now have (Vinnie being the obvious exception) then I like it even more.

You’d think long term injured like Foden and Sane need two weeks of full training I guess to be ready to play. Stones hasn’t been out for long so could come back sooner, maybe even Saturday.

City Chief tweeting Leroy Sane did NOT train with the rest of the squad. Still continuing his rehab. Obviously disappointing.

It's hard to know where the injured players are at in terms of recovery, given the lack of direct info. Reading between the lines I'd say:
Jesus - Based on Pep's comments he should be fit to start by May 12th
Sane - Same date as Jesus.
Delph - Hopeful he can start games within the next 2 weeks but who knows how long he will stay fit for.
Mendy - End of April but can't see him playing any real part till next season.
Foden - Back in full training. Maybe a week away.
Merlin - Most important of all. When he got injured against WBA, Danny Murphy said he would be out for 2-3 weeks. The journalist from Spain said (Wednesday this week) that he had not recovered from his injury. That journo seems to be a good sauce. The tastiest sauce though, for all things Merlin, is a mate of his who says Merlin was given an extra day off and he will be back tomorrow. But he doesn't say he will be back and fit. It looked to me like he had some sort of strain, not just a knock. All in, I think Merlin will be back for Basel.
The presser tomorrow will doubtless reveal fuck all.

I know that some fans find the lack of information from the club regarding the injury situation annoying, but I quite like it that the club keeps its card close to its chest.
