Chelsea favourites for Madrid star Isco despite Man City interest
Image
REAL MADRID star Isco is likely to move to Chelsea this summer despite Manchester City’s fresh interest in the Spaniard, according to the bookies.
Isco appears to be on his way out of the Bernabeu after struggling to nail down a starting spot in Zinedine Zidane’s first team.
The Madrid manager is also apparently open to the idea of selling Isco after a dip in the 25-year-old’s form this season.
Manchester City have emerged as contenders for his signature after failing to land Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez last month.
But Chelsea have emerged as the front-runners to sign Isco, and could see him replace Eden Hazard, who is expected to go the other way and join Real in the summer.
“Real Madrid are preparing a squad overhaul this summer and Isco is one player who could get the chop. The Spaniard is eager for a move away after struggling for game time at the Bernabeu which has attracted the interest of five Premier League titans who have been left to battle it out for his signature,”
“Chelsea have set their sights on the Spain international as a possible replacement for Real Madrid target Eden Hazard. The Blues are the current frontrunners at 6/4 to pinch the 25-year-old from the Galaticos, while Man City are priced at 5/2 to add the attacking midfielder to their ranks after cooling their interest in the truant Riyad Mahrez.

Riyad Mahrez returns to Leicester City training ground
Winger has not trained or played for City for ten days but returns to Belvoir Drive ahead of Manchester City game.
The Algeria winger has not trained or played with City for ten days after Manchester City’s attempts to sign him.
The 26-year-old was said to be devastated that City rejected Manchester City’s offer of £50 million plus young player Patrick Roberts, and manager Claude Puel has admitted Mahrez needed time to clear his head after the disappointment.

Manchester City ready to SCRAP Riyad Mahrez transfer interest as Pep Guardiola isn't impressed by his Leicester walkout
Winger still has not showed up for training since champions-elect's £60m offer was rejected on deadline day last week
Riyad Mahrez's misery is set to compounded by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola turning his back on him for good.
Man City bid £60million for Mahrez, but walked away on deadline day after Leicester indicated they valued their prized asset at a massive £95m.
Since seeing his dream move to the Mancunian Blues collapse, Mahrez has gone on strike — refusing to turn up for training and missing the Foxes' last two games.
He is set to continue his self-imposed exile by missing Saturday's match — ironically, against runaway Premier League leaders City at the Etihad Stadium.
Blues boss Guardiola had left the door open to a fresh summer bid for a player who cost Leicester just £400,000 four years ago, as he is still keen to add another attacking option to his squad.
But the Spaniard is said to have major concerns at the way Mahrez has dealt with the fall-out from his failed move and will now look elsewhere.
Leicester have failed to win either of the games without the Algeria international — Everton away and at home to Swansea — and his prolonged absence has become a major problem for boss Claude Puel and the club.
Puel had initially agreed to give Mahrez some time off to enable him to get over the disappointment of missing out on his dream move to the Etihad.
But the 26-year-old, who is understood to have told Leicester he is absent because of depression, has given no indication of when he intends to return.
He has submitted transfer requests in the last two windows and is desperate to leave the club he played a key role in making Premier League champions two seasons ago.
But Man City now looks to be a door closed to Mahrez, who is facing an increasingly uncertain future the longer he remains AWOL.

Agreed fucking sick of it really..

Man City intend to lure Man Utd target Dybala from Juventus
Image
After losing out to great rivals Manchester United in their quest to sign Alexis Sánchez from Arsenal last month, Manchester City have turned their attention towards another superstar of world football.
Indeed, according to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Pep Guardiola has set his sights on luring Juventus forward Paulo Dybala to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The Citizens had tried to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez on deadline day, but their pursuit of the Algerian international ultimately ended in failure. It now appears unlikely they will reignite their interest in him come the end of the season, hence they have been busy identifying alternative targets.
Meanwhile, Red Devils boss José Mourinho has insisted he will not be looking to make any further additions to his frontline and is said to be happy with the options at his disposal for now. This could leave the coast clear for City to sign the Argentine from the Bianconeri.

Manchester City saved Aymeric Laporte's eighth tier former club from administration with record transfer
Image
Aymeric Laporte’s £57.1 million move to Manchester City helped to save a little known French club from ruin.
Sporting Union of Agen, who play in the eighth tier of French football and were Laporte’s first club, were on the brink of going into administration.
But the club were rescued after receiving one per cent of the club record fee City paid Athletic Bilbao to trigger the French centre-half’s release clause last month as compensation for their development of the player.
It resulted in Agen netting a cash windfall of around £570,000 – almost quadruple their annual budget – that enabled the club to pay their creditors and avoid impending bankruptcy.
Agen were entitled to demand 0.25 per cent of the transfer fee as training rights compensation for each season in which Laporte played in their junior ranks between 12 and 16, totalling one per cent over four years. Laporte, now 23, had joined Agen as a six-year-old in 2000 before joining Bilbao in 2010 after a season with Aviron Bayonnais.
The story was first reported by Bilbao based newspaper El Correo, with the unexpected cash injection – which only came after City took a late decision to revive their interest in Laporte – warmly welcomed by Jean-Claude Brunel, Agen’s co-president. “Fate knocks at our door,” he said. “It is unexpected and a beautiful reward for our efforts. If the ruling had not been manifested, we were determined to close at the end of the season as we were unable to meet the operating costs.”
City are continuing to work on a deal for the £40 million rated Shakhtar Donetsk and Brazil midfielder, Fred, with a view to signing the 24-year-old at the end of the season. Reports in Brazil have claimed an agreement has been reached for the player although senior sources at City indicated on Thursday that there had been no new developments.
Meanwhile, manager Pep Guardiola has been handed a double boost with John Stones and Phil Foden returning to full training. Stones missed the Premier League games against West Bromwich Albion and Burnley last week through illness but the England centre-half is in contention to face Leicester City on Saturday. Foden has been sidelined for the past seven weeks with ankle ligament damage sustained in the League Cup win over Leicester in December but the midfielder is now available again.
Leroy Sane was also pictured on Thursday but the Germany winger, who has been ruled out until the end of next month with ankle ligament damage, has not returned to training and is still undergoing rehabilitation.

West Ham set to battle Leicester to sign Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts
WEST HAM are set to step up their rivalry with Leicester by going for Patrick Roberts.
The Hammers failed to land Islam Slimani during the January transfer window and there is tension at boardroom level between the clubs.
But they will go head-to-head for Manchester City forward Roberts this summer in a £15million deal.
Claude Puel wanted the 21-year-old, on loan at Celtic, as a makeweight in the deal for Riyad Mahrez that City walked away from over the price.
The Foxes boss still wants the ex-Fulham star in the summer as he looks certain to lose Mahrez eventually.
But West Ham will compete for Roberts too and are ready to firm up their long-term interest after missing out on him when he went to City.
He is now in his third campaign with the Scottish giants and has attracted interest from French side Nice before Premier League clubs started tracking him.
Roberts arrived before the Pep Guardiola era at the Etihad and the Spaniard is expected to allow the winger to leave for the right price at the end of the season

Man City to seal $43M Fred purchase in summer
Image
A report out of Brazil says Manchester City’s failed January pursuit of Fred will yield a success in the summer.
City has reached an agreement with the player and could add the 24-year-old center midfielder from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of approximately $43 million, if a report from UOL Esporte is to be believed.
Pep Guardiola got an up close look at Fred in a pair of UEFA Champions League group stage matches which includes one of City’s few losses this season.
Fred has two goals and four assists this season as Shakhtar prepares for the Champions League Round of 16 and two legs against AS Roma.
A box-to-box player, Fred can also lie deeper in a defensive role.
Judging by WhoScored.com and our Champions League-watching eyeballs, Fred has been a top performer for Shakhtar. The Brazilian was suspended from international competition for doping from 2015-17.

Why Ederson Deserves More Credit For His Brilliant Campaign With Manchester City
Image
Manchester City have been in sensational form this season so far and even though they have not managed to stay unbeaten in the Premier League, they are still the favourites to win the title by a long mile. More than anything else, their attackers have attracted a lot of attention for their prolific displays. The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, David Silva, Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero have all been in fantastic form but there is one player who is yet to receive his share of the credit.
Ederson Moraes has done a splendid job in goal for City and he has easily been one of this season’s best goalkeepers so far. He has maintained 11 clean sheets and has conceded merely 19 goals. To be fair, not many people knew a lot about the 24-year-old when he arrived at Etihad Stadium last summer for £34.9m but since then, Ederson has just been in top-class form. At present, it is hard for fans, in general, to not know about his potential. His presence is quite assuring and solid in goal and he seems to have an innate ability to sniff out danger before it materialises.
Until now, David De Gea was regarded as the best in the league but it is safe to say that Ederson can provide some stiff competition to the Spaniard for the numero uno position. There seems to be nothing Ederson cannot do and he proved that yet again in the club’s recent draw against Burnley.
For any goalkeeper, it is important to stay alert as his teammates go about attacking. The Brazilian did just that as he was able to withstand Burnley’s late pressure and save a point for City.
Simply put, Ederson has been nothing short of a revelation for Pep Guardiola this season. There were doubts about how quickly he would settle in but the kind of impact he has made, speaks for itself. He boasts of lightning-fast reflexes and it is such an important quality for a goalkeeper to have. In addition to that, the Brazil international has also managed to do well under pressure.
The previous season was terrible for Man City when it comes to goalkeeping. Claudio Bravo was quite weak and Guardiola had to bring in somebody to replace him and Ederson has been an excellent choice. He boasts of good vision and has often rescued City from a lot of sticky situations this term.
He has made his fair share of mistakes this season but his influence outweighs everything else. City’s attackers have received a lot of attention but it is high time that people credit Ederson for everything that he has done this season.

Frank Swift: The Manchester City Legend Who Was Lost At Munich
Image
Every Manchester United fan is more than aware of the devastation caused by the dreadful plane crash at Munich in 1958, but not many know about the other lives that were sadly lost when flight 609 crashed in the Bavarian snow; including one of Manchester City’s greatest ever players who also died on that awful day.
Former City goalkeeper Frank Swift played 376 games for the Blues and was a personal friend as well as ex-teammate of United’s then manager Matt Busby; and although he had retired from playing eight years earlier he travelled to Belgrade as a columnist for the News of the World, tragically he would never return.
Swift would regularly travel with United on European trips as part of his job and was treated like one of the lads by the players and coaching staff despite playing for the team from the other side of Manchester, even taking the field for a kick-about with the likes of Bobby Charlton, Duncan Edwards and the rest of the “Busby Babes” during the warm up for the European Cup semi-final the previous season.
He joined the Blues from Fleetwood on a free transfer in 1933 making his debut at the age of just 18, as they, not United, became the dominant side in the city winning both a league championship in 19 and FA Cup in 1934 playing alongside Matt Busby.
Among his fellow players he had the reputation of being something of a genial giant, often messing around and being the fool in order to get a laugh, sometimes even winning over opposition fans with his wit and making friends with his harshest critics during a game.
Aside from his antics, Swift was also regarded as one of the greatest ‘keepers of his time. He was big, strong and domineering in the penalty area and with huge palms and fingers his trademark move was coming out to collect crosses quite literally from the head of onrushing attackers and even catching the heavy leather football with just one hand.
Swift also played 19 times for England but it was with City that he made his name, becoming a fan favourite in the days long before replica shirts and squad numbers were a term of endearment. And if it wasn’t for the outbreak of World War II he would surely have played more games for the Maine Road club.
After hostilities ended, Swift played for another four seasons for City before calling it a day in 1950, so highly regarded was he that Matt Busby even tried to tempt him out of retirement to play for United in the years that followed but Swift declined; preferring to forge a career in sports writing.
Like 22 others Swift’s life was cut cruelly short by the tragic crash at Munich on February 6, 1958 and, although initially pulled from the wreckage of the crash alive he died, aged 43, as he was being carried into the Rechts der Isar hospital from a severed aorta believed to have been caused by his seat belt.
At City’s first game after the tragedy, City’s players all wore black armbands and a minute’s silence was observed in honour of those who had died, while in the match programme City’s chairman Alan Douglas wrote an emotional address.
“For many, many years, there has existed a rivalry between the two clubs,” he said. “But just as we at Maine Road have rejoiced in United’s many triumphs, so now we share their sorrow. If we can do anything to help them in any way, however small, to achieve that objective, we shall regard it as a privilege to do it.”
Munich is seen very much as a Manchester United tragedy and understandably so, but such loss of life and suffering mean the events of that day are a tragedy for human kind that is not exclusive nor bound by club colours.
And the fact that one of Manchester City’s most cherished sons lost his life along with eight of his friends from the same city who were best known for wearing Red means that despite the animosity which has developed between the two clubs in the years that have followed, the two Manchester sides will forever be United in their grief due to the tragic events of February 6, 1958.

Manchester City tipped to attempt another signing as officials are spotted at club
After managing to convince Claudio Gomes to choose them over staying at Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City are trying to do the same again, but with a 15-year-old.
The player in question is Kais Najeh, whom Pep Guardiola’s side recently scouted during a Lyon-PSG U15 game played at Camp des Loges.
According to RMC Sport, who are the ones reporting this information, Manchester City were keeping an eye on his progress as well as that of a handful of Lyon youth players as the Premier League club continue to try and bolster their own academy with exciting talent.
Embed from Getty Images
The defender, who was put at left-back for the game, is at a stage in his career where he will need to make a decision come the end of the season of either continuing his adventure at Paris Saint-Germain and sign an ‘aspiring’ contract or move elsewhere.
His entourage are said to be weighing up their options, and the Ligue 1 leaders’ lack of dialogue on the matter is making them question the former of the two routes.
This is, of course, good news for Manchester City, who seem keen to give new recruits detailed plans for their future.
One to certainly keep an eye on.

The slight problem with that is that we/Celtic might then end up with a player going on strike if he doesn't get his 'dream move' because Leicester refuse to go that high.

The tabloid media reaction to a scenario like that I'd be intrigued to see.

No doubt it would be City's fault, and it would be another young English player ruined by City.
