Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

This idea gets aired from time to time, so if you are interested, this is how the league table would look if it was
Win = 3 points
Score draw = 2 points
No score draw = 1 point
Loss = 0 points
Table if 2 points awarded after this weekends results, position, points and GD
1. MCI 74 +59 no move - points gain 2
2. LIV 61 +30 up 1 - points gain 7
3. UTD 59 +32 down 1 - points gain 3
4. TOT 58 +24 up 1 - points gain 6
5. CHE 55 +30 down 1 - points gain 2
6. ARS 49 +15 no move - points gain 4
7. BUR 42 -3 no move - points gain 6
8. LEI 41 -1 no move - points gain 6
9. EVE 39 -14 no move - points gain 5
10. WHU 37 -12 up 2 - points gain 7
11. BOU 36 -10 down 1 - points gain 5
12. WAT 34 -10 down 1 - points gain 4
13. NEW 34 -11 no move - points gain 6
14. SOU 34 -12 up 4 - points gain 8
15. BRI 34 -14 down 1 - points gain 6
16. CRY 33 -17 down 1 - points gain 6
17. STO 31 -26 up 2 - points gain 6
18. SWA 30 -17 down 2 - points gain 3
19. HUD 30 -24 down 2 - points gain 3

Can't see it happening. Too much scope for teams to collude to both let one in at the start each, and then carry on the game.
Can you imagine the last game of the season, with one team needing 2 points to guarantee safety, and the other needing 2 to guarantee a CL place? It'd be this all over again:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disgrace_of_Gij%C3%B3nEdit: Although that scenario could *theoretically* happen at the moment with both teams needing 1 point each, it'd be 4 times as likely to happen with 2 points for a score draw, with scenarios where both teams needing 1, team A needing 1 and team B needing 2, team A needing 2 and team B needing 1, and both teams needing 2 points being open to such fixing.

Bonus points for goals is the way to go, say 3 in a game earns you an extra point.

I'd say there's potential in this, but only in domestic leagues. Would you go for a maximum of 1 extra point, or if a team wins 9-3, one team would get 6 points, the other 1?

The latter, let's have some proper goalfests.

I'd like to see penalties if the full time score is 0-0 with the winner getting 1 point and the loser nothing. Seems wrong that a team can get a point for not scoring and stopping the other team scoring. Not thinking of any team in particular of course.

Emphasis should always be on promoting a win. In my opinion such an idea would likely lead to more teams preferring to play out score draws, especially when the top 6 sides were playing each other. This in turn would have a detrimental affect on entertainment value of these games. For example in a hypothetical Top 6 game,in a closely contested season Team 2nd in League scores first, takes a 1-0 lead, Team 3rd equalises. Both decide to play out a draw and take the 2 points. Would likely be the same when the bottom 7,8, sides play each other. Just my opinion.

So unfair still, so when we thrash a team 6-0 we get 3 points, whilst a 1-1 draw will get 2 points
Keep it as it is, there is too much messing around

If City keep progressing and improving as they have this season, maybe the FA will look at giving an extra point to any team that dares to turn up at the Etihad to play us.
I would also deduct a point from any team's total if they fail to have at least three shots on target against their opponents.
Also, I would suggest that should any team be more than 12pts clear at the top of the table, they should not have to bother playing until or even if the other teams below catch them.
It would allow City to rest players in readiness for the CL.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

I like this idea, make it 4 goals for a bonus point. Football is supposed to be entertaining, and goals, not " bus parking" make entertainment.
Also make the league smaller, so less teams, so teams could be more equally matched. So we don't have the big teams thrashing the small teams as often but teams playing those on a similar level.
The Portuguese Eye Gouger would be out of his job pretty soon.

You should get docked points if:
- You don’t have a shot on target on the opposing goal
- You have less than 35% possession for the match
- You don’t make 100 passes as a team in total throughout the match

Some games I think some of our players are just trying to get their successful passing stats up. (I don't know if it's bonus related?).
Two players, say in defence, stood next to each other, just quickly exchanging passing to each other, without any movement. It's not the most entertaining aspect of our game style.

That’s what tires the opposing players out though ready for us to break.

You should also lose points if you play in red (as first choice kit).

Usually the opposition aren't pressing though, when it's in our defence. It looks like time wasting, with short passing of only a few feet, and no movement from either team, Yaya is a specialist
Very few teams press us these days, especially when Ederson is in the team. I expect Wigan and Arsenal may try in the cups, when Bravo is playing. Bravo hasn't got the distribution and confidence, and it could cost us?

It's not time wasting, it's trying to pull their shape apart to create space for a forward pass.
