virtually every NBA player wears some form of what you'd call "tights" and it isnt even cold in NBA arenas.

In my day you covered your thighs in deep heat when it was freezing ,being extra careful around the Balls. These days they wear fucking tights,sit on the Bench under quilts with a Hot water Bottles.Soft twats.

Would any of these modern football players get through the winter of an English season in the 70s. Not so sure.

Those were the Days sat on the wall with my Legs through the railings at Maine Road,,straining my Eyes, trying to see through the thick blanket of Cigarette smoke at what was going on, on the other side of the Pitch. In winter you couldn't see fuck all when it was really Cold,The cigarette smoke and cold weather made it like a thick Fog.You had to rely on others to know if we had scored.I miss those games on Mud baths,snowy pitches with Orange Balls.They were entertaining although very dangerous for the players

I clearly remember that when City played a European game, somewhere in Eastern Europe, around 1970 (ish), the temperature was minus something and Frannie Lee commented on the colour of the opponents legs. Only realising later that they were wearing tights.

If I am not mistaken, in later games, under similar conditions,City players, (some/all?) also took to wearing tights under similar conditions. This at a time when we look back and consider it a macho period of hard manly players.

The truth is that under freezing conditions, legs and muscles can sieze up and be more prone to injury. If it were stockings and suspenders, maybe the critics would have a point.

You are right John.

most of us who played a bit when we were younger will have felt the pain of pulling a hamstring in the middle of winter.So important to warm up properly this time of year,,get the blood circulating properly in to the cold muscle.Lost count of the times i have seen players come on from the bench to see them go off again minutes later.Through not warming up properly.

If it reduces injuries so what? They're not soft twats, they clearly train and play much harder than any of us ever did or are capable of.
