What goals do you remember?

Postby Pretty Boy Lee » Fri Mar 02, 2018 8:58 pm

Was just thinking about which goals over the years stick vividly in your memory. Obviously Aguero v QPR can be replayed with all the commentary in the minds of all blues, but what others stick with you for whatever reason. Mine are these.

Tevez counter attack in the home 1-0 v Chelsea. Silva making two efforts to distract and drag a defender to create more space for him. Clinical and brilliant.

Ireland’s volley and pants v brum.

That mpenza header off an awesome petrov break I think v Newcastle.

A few more as well, just weird random goals stick on my mind haha. What’s yours?

Berkovic against Norwich where he ran from the half way line. Class.

Tiatto’s that was disallowed against Boro.

Hinchcliffes header to make it 5-1 v the rags. Can still hear Tyldesley now, "Bishop to White, early cross to the far post. Hinchcliffe with the header. That's just marvellous stuff."

Tuert in the league cup
Micah leaping at Aston Villa to gain the draw
goater taking the ball from ratface
It may be my last year as a season ticket holder as it just doesn't seem the same with so few English and local players (but I said that last year)

Ali Benarbia's late deflected winner against Rotherham. Goat's late winner against Coventry in the Cup. Yaya's first goal at Newcastle late in the season when we won the league in 2012.

I’ll never forget the feeling of regret watching Micah score that goal on Telly knowing I could have gone to that game the day before I left the country again.

I was right at the front behind the goal for Micah's goal
Conversely, I was desperately trying to get into the stadium when Tevez scored that goal against the chavs due to a flat battery on the motor. I just heard the roar.

No-one's mentioned Dickov against Gillingham, and I still remember Colin the king curling one in at the bridge sometime in the seventies like it was yesterday.

Well...in my capacity of tourist bandwagoner my historical memory of lived remarkable City moments cannot stand the palest comparison with that of the likes of John68, just to mention probably our more advised historian.
Thus, a very easy one for me: Dzeko's 6th in the demolition derby. Beside the beauty of the build up in itself, by that incredible no look volley by the Wizard, Edin showing the 6 to the crowd is a memory that never fails to bring a shiver to me.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

In Roger Ailes/Donnie Drumpf's words: "don't know it for a fact, but many people say so..."
there must be some truth, then!

Colin's first time volley against Chelsea om the edge of the box from a cross from the left.
The 4 goals away at Newcastle to win the league in 68
Kinky v Southampton
City goal at the swamp when Stepney stupidly saved an indirect free kick from Lee but Summerbee knocked in the rebound.
Neil Young's goal against leicester to win the FA cup
Hinchcliffe against the scum
The Goat with the Neville assist

so so many

Kenny Clements' goal and subsequent celebration at the North Stand End v Sheffield United.
David White's 10th v Huddersfield.
Jim Melrose's volley from the half-way line v Notts County.

Just three for now but more will come to me.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

Paul Power's lobbed equaliser at Goodison in the 81 cup run. Stayed in the air for ages and time stood still.
His curled free kick at Villa Park in the semi.
City and sniffing knickers.

Hinchecliffe header is one of the very few from childhood I can still play in my mind. Maybe seeing it 100 times helps haha.

Caiecedo backheel v west brom is another.

Garrison free kick v Liverpool.

Goater vs. Wigan in the Second Division Playoff semi-final second leg to send us to Wembley. I was in the Kippax for that. Such a crucial goal.

Aguero vs. Arsenal away in the League Cup a few years ago when we won 1-0. A superb counterattacking goal. I was in Sydney for work so had to watch it on TV in my hotel in the morning. Celebrations looked brilliant as we had the whole end behind the goal.

Kinkladze against Southampton,
Horlock and Dickov at Wembley in 99,
Tarnat's free kick (against Blackburn I think),
All 4 against Spurs in the FA Cup comeback,
Samaras scored a belter against Charlton,

And a dozen more in recent years.
