Because they have failed to compete in any competition for years, this has turned into the ultimate showdown to prove 'istory triumphs over money. The scounse are whipped into a bin dipping frenzy to make themselves somehow relevant on the world stage.

I hope we fucking smash them. I haven't wanted to destroy a team as much as these in awhile. Funny thing is, I don't mind their manager or players. Just the fans are among the most loathsome on the planet.

With Vinny and Silva back, I doubt the game will be anything like the last time we played them. 4-1 City win and I'll be over the blue moon.

Do the dippers not spend money? World record fee for a centre half, Brenda spent just over £300m as their manager (won nothing) and they spent more money on agents last year than anyone. Maybe its because we have foreign owners with money..... just like the dippers do.

I think Matip would have played so probably a bonus. Lovren has a mistake in him as does their goalie. I just think our midfield’s miles better. There will be a ferocious high press against us early on and we have to weather that and avoid a silly mistake high up the pitch which could be seized on by their defenders. Late in the game they may tire with all that effort. We need to score, preferably two.

Dave is playing. Big big plus for us.
Jesus is hitting a bit of form.
We won't or are very unlikely to make the same mistakes again.

Thought I'd get 5 minutes of the Debate on Sky, wish I hadn't fucking bothered. Ian Wright banging on about the atmosphere we will have to face and both fuckwits going for Dippers to win the tie, it was if it was choreographed the way they were talking.

Strange though, Sky don't usually push the CL games, hardly even reporting on the scores, yet when the Dippers get to the quarters, against us, they are in overdrive.

Hopefully a less bias build-up tomorrow night from BT, the ones who actually own the rights to televise it.

If they finish both legs less than 3 goals behind us I'll be surprised.

Nailed on that one of the Ox, milner or Henderson go to take out Silva in the first 15 mins to see if they can injure him, it's their best chance of getting a result.

My bet would be Henderson.

He has it in him. I can't even stand the look of him. Or the way he walks. Or talks.

I think Milner has the assassin’s role. Must be eating him up that he left us to ensure that he played in midfield, that he played every week and to win honours . .

After a couple of seasons of playing when the better players are injured, often playing in defence, and having nowt to polish (apart from his nob), he’s slowing down and the only way he’ll affect the game is by causing injury to a better player.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.
