What a player.

His agent...what a whopper.

Not withstanding the superstars we have seen playing in a blue shirt over the last eight years, the likes of Aguero. Silva etc, has any player played such a crucial role in our rise from comparative obscurity?

Yaya got a tremendous send off from the club, staff and the fans.......BUT NO FUCKING CAKE AGAIN!!!!!

An absolute beast of a player when he was at the top of his game.

So fortunate to have got him here in his prime, he’s been such a driving force in our rise to the top.

Some amazing moments in major games he’ll live long in the memory of City fans for the huge contribution he’s made.

Which pundit was it that said they'd never heard of him when we signed him? I know Merson said Barry and de Jong were better than Yaya when he first came

A hugely influential factor in the trophies we have won.
That game at Newcastle and his performance lingers fondly in the memory.
In his prime one of the best footballers in the world.

Never really got the recognition he deserved.
Wonder why that is...... its a mystery.......never mind

Finally got to watch the ceremony.

Tears back again after was getting them watching the last home game.

Love seeing his teammates mob him singing together.

Kolo understandably magnanimous, as well towards Pep, which was nice touch to praise the current team out there as well. Vinny also showing himself a real City historian recalling almost all of the key moments in big games...fantastic speaker that clearly suits "freestyle" commentary as well.

My favourite City player is going, but the memories will live on forever. I was so excited to watch him play, always gaving me the sense that we could win any game due simply to his presence. I know there's things always said about him in criticism but that can never compare to the joy he brought me as a fan. I will truly miss him and hope he and the club finds a way to keep around as you can see the positive influence he appears to have even today.

Nice article that sums up something I believe many City fans have felt for ages, and not to rehash the cake and agent issue, but I always suspected Yaya's "antics" were in part to a general sense of under appreciation towards him from English fans and media outside of City.
