Work permit issues apparently will be resolved because the fee being paid by Villa gives Luiz enough points to satisfy the criteria.

ridiculous

What the fuck?! I thought he was supposed to be class?!

we’ll all be able to see now won’t we?

I always feel if a bigger club really wanted to get a work permit for a player, they do.

So indeed we will see

£5M profit for fuck all. Plus we buy him back if he's decent when Villa are relegated and flog him to a Spanish club, someone like Villarreal or Betis or Valencia for £30M.

Decent bit of business

100% hasn't he taken the piss at least twice? Mercenary cunt who is passed it

Its not just him having turned us down that really irks me..its the fact hes a little cunt who likes to be the center of attraction and throws a strop when he doesn't get his way.

He will be a tadpole in a tank of big fish if he comes here, and if he does come here he best get used to the idea he will be second fuckign choice.

I'd sooner keep Danny Lowe.

Exactly

Didn't we get a loan fee from Girona for him, too?

You’d hope so. Probably another £4/5M over the two years

You need 4 points to get a work permit. The biggest difference maker will be his wages.

3pts - Fee is in the top 25% of all PL transfers this summer.
2pts - Fee is in the top 50% of all PL transfers this summer.
3pts - The wages are in the top 25% at the club.
2pts - The wages are in the top 50% at the club.
1pt - The players current club is in a top league and he played 30% or more games.
1pt - the players current club is in European competition and played 30% of games.

At Villa, Luiz will probably be in the top 25% of earners, so that gets him 3pts straight away. You only need 4 points to get through so it's a game changer.

He should get at least 1 for playing in a top league last year, and probably £15m will be in the top 50% of transfers, so that'll be 2. Which would give him 6 points. At City he'd only get 1.

So having a buyback clause might just be a way to send him on loan and get him a work permit in one move.

With the transfer of Antoine Griezmann, Barcelona has spent 1,08 billion euros since the 2014/15 season, more than any other club.

But I thought we were solely at fault for the transfer market going crazy....

I know he only has a year left on his contract, but £8M for an established PL player who is a current England international? Seems to me that is not nearly enough. I’d sooner keep him as cover for the next year than get a fee that small given he can cover a couple of different positions

Could go as high as £10M with add-ons which, if appearance related, it won't.......Seems a good deal to me, Zinch is ahead of him at left back with Angelino as cover. Foden should be getting in ahead of Delph in the middle. Did a decent job for us when we originally lost Mendy but a good time to for both parties to move on

8m isn't enough, fuck me some of the prices English players go for and we only get 8m.

wages, the fact that he’s nearly 30, poor injury history and that he’s a thoroughly decent bloke who has served us very well when he’s come in played a part in us allowing him to leave for a low fee...

Agree. Let him sit on the injury table somewhere else.

well, we must be confident with the cover we have unless we are sure someone else will be joining us soon. we have to be due a season where we don't have such a busy physio table, a season like the dippers would be nice for a change. also lets see how they cope if they do pick a few key injuries up this time.

Isn't Rodri taking the Delph spot?

And surely it's also 8m because he only has a year left?

So has Eriksen at Spuds, yet they are asking for mega money. I know he is better than Delph but the principle remains the same.

sure, but Eriksen is going to be almost impossible for spurs to replace if he leaves

Where you see that? Still not being reported in major outlets.
