Seems we expect he may go as Iniesta offered an assistant position apparently.

Isn't Iniesta going to China?
If he comes, have him as a player assistant manager. He still has the legs.

He could replace Yaya in the 'senior player that's won everything' role.

Looks like Arteta is staying. BBC reporting Emery is going to be appointed the new Arsenal manager.

Got to be happy with him staying. A happy and consistent back room staff can be as important as the manager. Imagine when push came to shove he decided he was just happy at our place and perhaps thought that the grass isn’t always greener.

Surely there's a reference to Dick Emery in a song.

I got the impression he snubbed them because he wouldn't have last say over transfers.

Arsenal is absolute poison job. They might be tired of Wenger now but in six months they have forgotten how stale they were and only remember "invincibles" and glory days. Now their fanbase expect them to challenge at all fronts yet the squad is hopelesly unbalanced and you got pocket money to spend. You are more or less set up for failure.

Arteta on the other hand is still just coach. Learning his ropes and learning about Pep's Ekkono method style management, false 11-system and so on. He will not be coach forever and will eventually take a management position as he is clever lad. Always was. But in order for that system to work you need full control. I know for a fact that "Barcelona school" training is so different that you need to bring in your own backroom staff and you also need certain type of players. They don't need to be world class if you are not in world class club but if you have players that can't execute certain things the system will simply not work. Not in the training ground and not in games.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
