Arteta - Sould he stay or should he go

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Arteta - Sould he stay or should he go

Postby Tony P » Fri May 18, 2018 7:43 am

Darling you've got to let me know...

Haven't seen a debate about his on here. What do people feel about this? Pep chose him to be part of the backroom team, would it be a big loss to us?

On the other hand would Arsenal be taking a big gamble in appointing someone with no management experience?

I really hope he doesn't go. I can't say I know how much he brings to the table, but pep speaks highly of him and I don't want any fucking around with our management team.

Nice pay day for Arteta if he does take the Arsenal job but it just shows all the best top managers are tied up with big European clubs , Arsenal have become a joke despite a fantastic stadium and plenty of financial resources
Not really here

Silly move by arsenal, vieira would make more sense than arteta, there banking on arteta learning a tonne from a year with pep which is unlikely.

No brainer for arteta could manage for 20 years and not get get this opportunity so he should snap there hands off its no lose for him.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pep obviously saw something in Arteta from early on, remember the picture of Pep with his arm around him when he was at Bayern and they had just played Arsenal. Obviously interviewing him at the time.

Image

Maybe the lad has something about him, I would personally like him to finish his tutelage with Pep and maybe take the reigns when Pep has a sabbatical in 2022. 5 years learning from Pep would be a great foundation for him.

Purely from a selfish perspective I want him to stay, if Fernandinho gives him credit for improving his game, i want him here.

Looking at the bigger picture i thnk he'd be a fool to take it, with under 2 years experience that is only as part of a team of 4 or so others, the expectations not only of the Tarquins but the media would be too much too soon IMO.

Interesting to see who is on the gooners wish list and how low they rate Vierera

It's a WIN/WIN for us ; Gunners have left Paddy's nose out of joint with their "half-hearted" approach to him, so he won't be going anywhere near them. If Arteta does go there, which I think would be unwise for him as he's not ready, then we can bring back Paddy in a year or two as Pep's no. 2.

I remember the article back then saying he was out on the pitch just him and pep for 45 minutes talking. They weren't swapping recipes.

In the week leading up to the Arsenal home game last season he prepared the team for the game, decided the tactics, made the substitutions. This suggests he's an important part of the team and by all accounts he's almost as obsessive as Pep about the game. He'd be a loss (although I've also heard it's possible Iniesta will join us in a similar role if he goes).

Would be like loaning out a player for experience. Let him go to Arsenal. If he's any good bring him back to replace Pep in 3 years

If iniesta is coming in his place then I'd drive his to London myself. Can't think of a better player to learn from then Iniesta, he's brilliant

I'd agree with this if I thought Vieira convinced me he was a natural successor, but he doesn't. Agree with those posters who don't want the boat rocking - we won't know how much influence Arteta has had on the side until he is no longer there.

I don't understand why they would take such a gamble. He isn't even Pep's number 2.

As Champagne Charlie pointed out a few weeks ago, when Pep was sent off, the technical area was completely vacated. You might have expected someone with management designs to step in and shout a bit

Odd, very odd.

Yes. And bring Vieira in now as Pep's assistant.
