Remember that game well. Scifo, Belanov, Ceulemans, Vercauteren, Aleinikov. Pfaff and Dasayev at goal. Three goals at extra time. Vintage.

you remember a game well that kicked off at midnight (your time) when you were 6 years old? ok.

Except I was 8 and and luckily they had invented VCR. Coincidentally my dad bought our first VCR for this particular tournament. Still got lot of original tapes.

Edit. I was 7 by the way. Turned 8 on september.

I was 8. Watched every match that was on telly and that my parents would let me stay up for. It was summer holidays, so no school, and your 10pm games kicked off at 9pm for me (8pm for Discopants).

Yeah, I recall watching tons of games live but really VCR was a game changer in lot of ways. Could see European Cup games and Cup Winners Cup games as they were night games on telly. And as far as football goes my dad was extremely lenient about staying up. Otherwise strict man.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The world cup is getting in the way of 3 weeks in Vegas for may of the multi millionaires. Lucky for the likes of Kun and Messie home is thousands of miles away from the anger which they will feel at home... Not blaming them in any way btw.

were time zones different in 1986???

10pm uk =
11pm mainland europe
midnight - deepest darkest finland (although in 1986 i think that it may still have been 1972 there then)

Has anyone realised (. . .sorry all if I'm being a bit slow here) that our very own Age Hareide is manager of Denmark ?
If this has been noted in earlier posts , OK, I'll go back to bed.
But I thought he was AAge H. when he played for us (or was it Jan-Aage ??).

Oh crap. Got my time zones mixed up!
I don't remember which games I watched (live), but I do remember that the Swedish telly showed the games the morning/day after. No need for a VCR for me.

Just said we had VCR. You were boiling tea by putting coins on gas meter. Water was from piping built by romans. Nothing wrong with black and white tv though.

He's having a really good game. Shame that most of the midfield (casamiro, willian, paulinho, etc) have been playing terrible

This Brazil team would play better without Neymar. Every single attack stops with him trying to do something outrageous. Otherwise they build well.

Neymar has gone down a level since his transfer to PSG. He's always been a ball hog, but it's gotten even worse as he plays like he's trying to prove himself all over again

Like there. G-sus wide open. Pass and it's a tap in but noooooo..... he has to go for the glory.

You're wide open in front of goal, fuck up your first touch, then dive. Well done Neymar
