He did a "quenelle" gesture, an inverted nazi salute, anti-semetic. So he got fined and a 5 game ban

Cheers.

Remember there was a big issue around that at the time.

Both goalscorers are of Albanian stock. As is the case for 20% plus of the Swiss population, they are Naturalised Swiss. This is not a new thing, you must wait for at least 10 years to apply.

The Eagle is on the Albanian flag and as Shaq said afterwards, it was a thing to make family and friends
happy. It isn't even being discussed in Switzerland.

.FIFA have charged both players. Should be interesting, FIFA now compounding the problem, instead of simply having a quiet word.

since Switzerland probably wont score any more goals before they fly home after the last 16, it shouldn't matter.

Not the impression I've had from Swiss friends' Facebook posts at all.

Sick of these footballers that pretend they're from another country they're representing. Why didn't Xhaka and Shaqiri play for Albania? Why didn't Gundo and Ozil okay for Turkey?

I still don't understand why he didn't just choose to play for Jamaica.

But in this instance Sterling hasn't done any celebration relating to Jamaica. Or he hasn't been pictured with anyone in power in Jamaica.
If he brought out a spliff and lit it up after scoring we could say the same.

Talk about an overreaction if they get banned for a harmless gesture. It's not a fascist salute or anything like that. They got abuse by the Serbian fans all game with the usual 'kill the Albanians' chants and stuck it to them when they scored. Nothing wrong imo.

And Lichtsteiner also did the Eagle gesture, shouldn't he be banned as well?
