Will admit I didin't realise that Pjanic has apparently played as a no. 6 the last 2 seasons for Juve under Allegri as he used to play less deep for Roma.

For those unconvinced:

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foo ... 41236.html

"When I arrived at Juve, Allegri said that in future he saw me playing in front of the defence. I put myself at his disposal and now I am happy in a role where I can really help the team.”

Indeed it seems this has been the plan all along, with the Tuscan Coach telling Sky Italia that he believed Pjanić would “become one of the best in the world in that position” shortly after he made the €32m switch from Roma. With six goals and eight assists to his name already this term, he is well on his way to repaying Allegri’s faith and has done so in a variety of different ways to help the team.

Pjanić has opened up opposing defences in open play just as Pirlo used to, stroking the ball around the pitch quickly, efficiently and accurately to connect with 90 per cent of his 74.4 pass attempts per 90 minutes. He has also upped his work rate defensively, weighing in with 2.4 tackles and 2.1 interceptions per outing in Serie A..."

He would also provide another set piece taker, which we've also now added with Mahrez.

I'm changing my mind about this idea and am now thinking this might actually be a more legit story than first thought.

He's already given his explanation in the same press conference

Don’t think he’s coming. Reckon we’ll start the season with what we got...which might be a mistake. not only for this season but if not already then next year everyone will know they can ask whatever they want for the Ferna replacement

When does the window close? I don't think we need to pjanic just yet.

Just checked, it's 5pm 9th August, before season kicks off. I reckon we'll get someone in but we'd want to get moving, wonder what's in the pipeline

keep your eyes on Zinch, if he's sold to Wolves or goes somewhere on loan - it will happen

Oh zinky has a lot to do to come anywhere good enough for that vital central role. Too light weight at the moment, pushed about too easily.
He seems a great lad and would love it to happen for him, but just don't see him up to it at the moment.
Delighted to be wrong.

Would be happy to keep him as a squad player. Sounds like he would too

I think he did well at LB last season but then we have Mendy coming back and Delph playing well there. If we sell him I can see another pay day in the region of £16-18m. Can’t say I’d be happy with that but not devastated to see him move on.

That price is certainly too high.

Seems next summer we may have to make at least 2 major signings:

Striker
Defensive Mid

Curious if Pep will keep Douglas Luiz and/or Gomes around for cover as they have shown some good ability, albeit inconsistent, in the role.

Think the Zinch may be getting some time there as well it looks (outside Delph and Gundo)
