For a Spurs fan going to a game ones own team cannot make, it can't be bad , at least City64 wont piss down your leg like a Celtic fan might do ... wait a mo, he's going on the razz on starting Saturday , so watch out !

im surprised by the number of people on here trivializing this match. its for a trophy (yes, basically a meaningless one) and the match is on a higher level than those awful ICC matches; plus, its against a top 6 side that could end up being one of our biggest rivals this season if Sarri can implement his style of play quickly. i dont want to start the season by losing our first competitive fixture
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

Quite so. There's a very fine shield to hold up if we win, far larger than the UEFA Super Cup or World Club Champs trophy. Size matters.

Not just on here, it's just an exhibition game as a curtain raiser for the new season. City likely won't sell their allocation as local fans can't be bothered paying through the nose to travel to London for a glorified friendly.

I believe there's no US broadcast of the game? Another indicator that no one really cares.

Even the sub rules are consistent with friendlies rather than a competitive game. I expect it to be treated like any other preseason friendly, primarily to get some minutes into the player's legs before the real football starts.

The charity shield only matters when the rags dippers win it. Then it's a 'national trophy,' for everyone else it's a meaningless preseason friendly.
It's always been the way and it won't change.

A friendly it may be. But a game at Wembley is always worth winning.
