He was very good. Some mistakes mind, especially in the first half. For a while I think he was overdoing it, thinking too much. But he recovered and should have had a second assist. Kid definitely has a chance. It's up to him to take it if he is given one.

I had to stop watching towards the end. How did Diaz do?

What do you mean has a chance ??? he was MOTM and has been a star player for us every game hes played !!

Top player and hes 17/18 ?? and hes a manc lad !!

Yes.

Some of the comments seem odd and, no disrespect, sound a bit naive. Didn’t watch yet but interesting to hear some get so caught up without context.

Did any who are saying this watch him during preseason before he was injured? He’s unlikely to be at real full fitness. He was arguably our best player and looked like he’ll fit in very well.

I reckon Foden is going to make it. Looks much stronger than last year and really comfortable in the team. Fingers crossed.

Didn't City accept a bid for him from Wolves? Could be he's finalising his move.

The importance of Foden can't be overstated. This kid is from the academy, pure Manc and can help overcome the claim we simply buy it. (Although that doesn't really trouble me too much)
Imagine having an English talisman driving City on from within our ranks.
I have rarely wanted a City youth player to succeed in the way I want Foden to.
England and Manchester City captain has a certain ring to it.

Foden is a player oh is he, take the ball in any situation, Like Modric class with an engine and I think will get us goals as well.

I do think he will be class but let's cool it and not pressure him.
Give the lad time and space to develop he's is only a boy.

How ironic the media and other supporters begging us to play him more regularly, the type of player England's national team been crying out for. So much for spuds, rags, candle wavers producing organic home grown players lol. How ironic we hold the key to the national team going forward that if he comes good, but the potential is there for everyone to see.

B Silva had an amazing game, kun and Phil foden also stood out for me. This is going to be an even more magical season.

If our big key players avoid serious injury yes . Injuries too a minimum and there will be no stopping us .

His touch with the outside of his foot to bring the ball out of the air was insanely good. I'm trying to find a clip of it. Diaz also played very well when he came on, but Phil seems to have an unreal calmness about him when he plays.

edit: found the clip - https://streamable.com/kc5ar

I was nervous going into this game that we didn't have enough time with everyone together in preseason, but looks like we never stopped from last year.

A special mention to how well Stones did as a defensive midfielder. I can see him doing a reverse Kompany; he's great on the ball, comfortable playing when facing his own goal, and it's not as big a deal to fuck up in midfield as a defender. 3 center backs, with Stones playing in front of the other 2 could work very well for us this year.

As good as our team is, Bernardo's close control and dribbling with 2-3 players around him is a level above anyone else. I never would have though he'd become a perfect replacement for Dave, but here's there. He's going to have an incredible season.
