Had a debate with a rag the other day about who the best defender in the Premium currently is. I said Otter and backed it up with facts. He said it was some shit player.

And after watching All or Nothing it just reminded me again how good he was last season! Very underrated in my opinion. Pep said Otter has worked on stopping being rash and talking about how much he's improved.

Also scored some important goals.

Hopefully back in the side ASAP.

He has certainly grown and his passing is exceptional, his aerial presence is good too. So can't disagree really, although I favour stones as my personal preference

I tend to agree that over a season he’s the best. His howlers get more attention than his excellent performances 9/10 weeks.
Tracking back is overrated.

Before last season he was useless and I wanted us to get rid of him. It was ridiculous that someone could get to Premier League level and not know that you don’t dive in to make a tackle at every opportunity.

But he massively improved last season and was a key part of our success. He was a real leader in the team and largely cut out the mistakes he was previously prone to.

Now this season he needs to show last season wasn’t a one off.

Spot on for me. Two seasons ago he was a weak link in the team, last season changed my opinion, he stopped being a soft c#nt falling down after every challenge and showed he is a genuine top class defender. Still I think laporte is first choice and then anyone of three.

Otter is a fine player and I am a fan, he just gets done when faced with pace. No problem day to day but he does get done by better players who see his weaknesses.

I think that was true before last season mate but I was watching his 'highlights' on YouTube from last season after Pep said what he did about him in the doc and to be fair he was standing a few players up whilst they were running at him and he nicked the ball. Before last season he would have slid in and got no where near it

He still needs to cut out the stupid diving theatrics though.

He is a complete embarrassment when it comes to that type of thing.

Laporte has been class and stones has done well. I think centreback is about the only position we look assured in.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Left Back is the problem currently.

For all his attacking ability, Mendy cannot defend at all.

I’d like to see Delph given a run in the side. He would be a more solid option there for now.

Otter brought the ball out of defence brilliantly last season. We're losing it too much in the middle.

I think pep will settle for stones and laporte as his preferred central defensive partnership. Vinnie will get games as well, otter will play less than these unless there are injuries.

Vinnie of course but also stones have had injury problems, so it could still be that the otter gets games.

His stats last season were very impressive so i feel for him that he hasnt started for us yet this season.

Vinny and Ottermendy will get plenty of games but the partnership of Stones and Laporte I'd the future.
