We had 30 shots, Spurs had 3, and the match finished 2-2.

Our finishing was abysmal yesterday. It’s the main reason we didn’t win.

Pep's tactics were nearly flawless. Kane was reduced to a 60 yard effort on goal. They created nothing and had no time on the ball. When they had the ball, we were aggressive in the tackle in winning it back.

Going forward, we were near perfect. We created numerous opportunities with the only problem our finishing. 6 or 7 players missed gilt edged opportunities. If this was a one off, you wouldn't be too bothered as you could just put it down to an off day but this type of thing happens to us too often during a season which is why we need to work on it.

The fact we had the best conversion rate in both the CL & PL last season says finishing is not the main problem. Other teams would love to score as often as we do. Yesterday we scored 3 good goals and conceded 2. Without VAR this conversation wouldn't be taking place. Other factors are in play - you can't blame our finishing for any points we drop.

Finally caught up with MOTD. Our xG was 3, Spuds was 0.22. So we hit 67% of our expected goals Spurs hit nearly 1000%. Shit happens. Without the bullshit VAR call we win 3-2 and this conversation never happens. You can't blame our finishing on every dropped point......

Right, so just wave the magic wand then.

no. we just try to raise the standard of finishing to match the rest of our play

PeP has addressed this same issue many times - thickets just like to ignore it as it doesn’t suit their narrative .

Go on then. How? What could they do that they don't already?

An over simplification. Apart from 'Tap ins', many shots at goal are taken when players are off-balance, in full flow( running) . Statistics never are able to reflect the complexity of the shot .

Er... passing with the inside of the foot , five metres, and not under pressure is not comparable.

If Tin tin fluffs five , i don't mind when he stuffs a left footed cracker into the Chelski net.

and yes , he probably doesn't know exactly how he does it .

The beauty of the game.

If we were hitting row Z with our shots you'd have a valid point. A defender's job is to prevent the opposition getting chances on target, while a keeper's job is to keep out those chances that beat the defenders. This weekend Spuds did just that. The fact we converted the 3rd highest % chances in the league (and the highest % chances in the CL) last season says we're pretty accurate. Not sure how much more we can expect. VAR is designed to fuck us up, so I agree we need to nullify its effect, but blaming it all on finishing is niaive in the extreme.

Spurs game isn't the best example to use for the argument you're making.

Gundo, Bernardo and DeBruyne all missed sitters. Sterling arguably too, although his one was well blocked.

Teams are never going to score every shot they take, so there will always be some cunt asking why they don't score more. Even when we score as many as we do.

You have to be talking about single matches, because I'm not. We're a team that create chances, and lots of them - in the knowledge that we only need SOME of them to go in, not ALL.
