What's that awful version of the song the spuds sing about slowly marching in ?

I believe they sang it when going to find Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.

some stats on this season for you...

This season the reigning champions have compiled an astonishing 317 shots at goal in the Premier League that dwarfs Liverpool’s 154. But while Salah and co have a clinical 39% success ratio from their tally City’s languishes at nearly half that on 20.5%.

Stats

17/18 highest conversion rate in league
18/19 3rd highest conversion rate in league
19/20 11th highest conversion rate in league

What date was on OD's post?

our chance conversion rate is pretty much exactly the same as over the past 3 seasons:
2017/18 - 20.8%
2018/19 - 19.4%
2019/20 - 20.4%

source: https://www.transfermarkt.us/premier-le ... on_id/2019

not good enough now. not good enough then. for a team of our quality. liverpool proving that point now with a near 40% conversion rate.

waiting eagerly for you and spazby to respond.

Can’t argue with that.

This season isn't the same as the previous two seasons though - and any statistic that suggests a parity to those seasons should instantly raise questions. (If we're converting at the same rate this season, then it suggests we're not creating the same amount of chances to win matches this season compared to the previous two).

It's a decent, above average conversion rate. The dippers have an amazing rate.

Again, how would you fix it Nige?

Had a look at Premier League's big chance conversion, 1 in 3 the last two seasons, 1 in 4 this season.

create less chances to make the players hungrier for goals. think about it and won’t be as stupid as it sounds

There's a feature in FourFourTwo that shows that based on 'expected points', City would actually be leading the table, 5 points ahead of dippers (City 57 points, dippers 52). 'Expected points' and 'expected goals' have some question marks over how realistic they are, but the article puts the differences between the expectation and reality down to their ruthless finishing in some tight matches (no mention of VAR) and our poor finishing and inability to close out games we dominate (which I take to be poor defending and sometimes reluctance to actually shoot).

It's not a watertight methodology, but does reflect what a lot of us have seen:

The table after we beat Brighton to secure the Title, has 3rd place Chelsea 27 point behind us, Chelsea are 4th currently 32 points behind the scousers, this season the scousers have maintained the pace everyone else has fell apart. What the final points gap will be is down to them, for the record the SCUM are 38 points off. Whatever your club it’s worrying and a gap that will take some closing.
