I believe in VAR but cannot trust those who will be running it.

That is my main concern. The referees are incompetent/corrupt. Why should the people who make VAR decisions be any less so?

I don't think it can be incompetence or corruption when it happens neraly every game. They are just following orders from their paymasters to try and level the playing field.

Sky to the PL, PL to PiGMOL, PiGMOL to referee, it's not hard to influence a game.

Has surely got to be incompetence or corruption? Assuming PiGMOL wants games officiating in a certain manner, if a referee complies with it knowing it is wrong then he has been corrupted

Yeah, sorry mate, was thinking you were meaning that they'd took a bung from a betting syndicate or something.

That also has undoubtedly happened. But thats probably not attached to PiGMOL themselves, more of an individual thing relating to an individual eferees penchant for gambling, fucking people/animals he shouldn't have or just plain greed

No thanks. The World Cup shows it will be used selectively and they will just avoid replays if they want to screw us.

Don’t change football. See rugby league for a game that changes rules and has killed its following over here by doing so. They’re struggling to attract a crowd and most people want the amount of VAR reduced to bring back the excitement and stop the delays to the game.
Tracking back is overrated.

The difference is that they can't say they didn't see it! It wouldn't eliminate errors but it would reduce them.

VAR is another vehicle to further complicate a simple game. Even if they see it there is no guarantee it will be reviewed.

Yesterday's Wolves goal wasn't an error . The incident happened so fast , it is quite possible the linesman simply did not see the ball to hand movement, as it did look as though he had got a touch with his head.Even the fact that it was nodded on - and therefore he was also offside- the linesman could even have missed that too !

Firstly, the wolves player celebrated like he had scored a genuine header , so he knowingly cheated. secondly if the linesman did see the events he also cheated.

However, this does not mean that the VAR controller would review it.

Thought the whole point of VAR was that EVERY game-changing decision was checked? So every goal, penalty shout/decision, sending off etc would be looked at. Or have I read it wrong?

You don't get it do you ? Do results get published about the results of game changing events ? Of course they don't . We get stats about possession, shots on or off target, and so on and on.No VAR stats, what was reviewed and the reasons behind the decision.

Just like referees are not subject to post game interviews. This is big business , and incompetence in referees and possibly even bias needs to be weeded out.

VAR is an absolute necessity but how it's managed is the only problem.

A lot of it was farcical last season and I have little doubt that elements of that "demonstration" were put in place to turn people off it. Or at least slow it's proper introduction down.

For those of you "less sceptic" , tell me why it took 30 odd years to introduce goal line technology ?
