Didnt watch the whole thing but from what I did captain Kane was dogshit and Lionel rashford needs to practice finishing.

Fair goal at the end when the best goalie in the world dropped the ball at welbecks feet but the ref bailed him out.

Also Kane is awful at linking play.

You get a lot from these games and for me was the attitude of Rashford. I've always tried to think of him as a prospect but tonight, when not posting on here, I realised why he Maureen doesn't have him in there, and why Southgate doesn't.

The lad is too selfish, it's all about him. Yes, he'll score a few but he does fuck all for the team. Had 2 other clear cut chances and 1 that Raheem would've got slated for. But it was all about him. When he decided he had a chance then he'd play but when he just stood there as they passed the ball around him, it was pure 'I can't be arsed'.

Could've been a draw though, that decision was just atrocious. Was he saying that Welbeck purposely tried to stop the keeper from playing the ball?

Kane, Ali and Lingard were non-existent.

Not starting Walker is a really strange one.

Agree with all that. I won't make any further equine references to our captain though - I think I'll just call him Hercules from now on....

I'm glad I went to sleep early last night - if lots of work didn't make me tired it sounds like the match would have. So the new England still hasn't beaten anyone decent.

Thought the very same, really missing last night. And as for Rashford there is no doubt he has talent but most of it revolves around his pace. He should get credit for being in the right place 4 times but his finishing was woeful. Even the one he scored wasn't convincing but the header was weak, the next he miss hit and straight at the keeper and then there was the offside one where De Gea saved. And he didn't bring enough to the team generally like Sterling would have done with his constant clever runs.

Sterling would have been slaughtered for such misses.

Pity he's not played Gomez and Henderson, as well as calling Jimmy up from retirement.

Looking at the players and the lack of playing time for their clubs I don't see why Foden couldn't be called up. Unless, of course, they still have plans for him in the youth teams?

To be fair, he's stopped a few and done that part but when it comes to playing out from the back he's looked terrible. I don't put the total blame on him for that, I just cannot understand why Southgate would play such tactics with Stoke, Burnley and Leicester players as part for the system. It's not their natural game.

Heard Tyler bemoaning the playing out at the back citing how in youth football it isn’t the done thing and Ratboy said he would talk about his time in Spain where the emphasis is very much different when there was a break in play. Had to go out to pick up my daughter from guides, did he regale us with tales from Spain? Or has Tylers point of view been seen as gospel?
