I bet his stats were great.

What was his dribbling like?

Not as good as the lad in our local team who has downs

Concerning sounding even if pleased with Silva’s work to score.

I really think our team look so frustrated with this competition. It’s a hangover from the QF last year.
They’re not stupid and neither is Pep.
They know exactly what’s going on and it can’t be easy dealing with that.

We got off to a bad start but were ripping them open in the first half. We went off the boil second half but Hoffenheim changed shape also to stop us tearing down the wings.
The baffling decisions got to us, but fair play to the lads pulling a result out of that game.
I don’t think we should make too little out of the character it took.

I don't know why, I shouldn't, but I'm starting to dislike Kompany as a player not as a person obviously. He was great in his prime, he just doesnt suit our system, his theatrics doesn't compensate for his lethargic passing.

He's always been a bit of a spastic in big games. Sometimes gets a great goal, other times launches into terrible tackles that leave us exposed. Wish he would stop talking to the media about our CL prospects though, because it always seems to bite him.

No he didn't get lucky Carl. This was about the worst , biased performance i have seen by a Referee, ever. What is Pep , or the team supposed to do about
such a pratt ?

Given the odd ball decisions, yellow cards ( stopping a throw in ffs) the professionalism, quality and experience of the team showed through.

A great result given the circumstances.

But we fuckign knew the ref was goign to be bent ffs !! we all fuckign know how the script is with these anti city cunts! what PeP had to do to combat that was to get the fuckign basics right !!! Laporte on the left was stupid , Kompany in was stupid , not playing Bernie was stupid.

Hes fuckign around with the back again!!

He got the win though Carl.

How good was Sane? B Silva? A genius footballer. I would not play Gundog in any game of any significance. Not from the start.

Ref made me puke. Total bastard.

We won't be allowed to win this competition. Now even the commentators can see it (that's how blatant it is).

Good job their defender had a brain fart and Dave was quick enough to nip in. That's what won us that game.

A draw I’d say. Or Shakhtar win. I still have my eyes on the top spot despite the slow start

mr_nool wrote:The ref aside, I thought we were very poor tonight - especially in the second half. It looked like one of those angst-ridden CL performances under Manicini where we just froze. Kompany had been playing like a god in the league for weeks, just to turn into a nervous under 14 player come CL Tuesday.

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but does anyone agree that Walker is a bit of a weak link in this team. I know that we don't really have a left back at the moment and that that issue is more pressing, but I think walker is very shaky defensively - I crap my pants every time he's in a one on one and he also flies into reckless tackles (could have had a red tonight). Still, I don't think he does enough going forward to compensate.

I'm not looking for scapegoats, it's just a discussion I think has got lost among the Mendy/Delph/Gundo talk.

Regarding the game I agree.

But I disagree about Walker. He’s not the best defender in the world I think everyone knows that but his pace helps us so much. If we are to get a result at anfield we need pacy defenders and if I was the coach I’d draft in the fastest fullback from the academy for that game as our defence is gonna be all over the place again no matter who plays but a quick lad at least has a chance of maybe saving a situation or two

Yes, his pace is a fantastic asset that allows us to commit more bodies going forward, but his defending still scares the bejesus out of me.
