I'll be up in Manchester for this one, arriving sometime in the afternoon of 7th November and staying near Gorton station.

If not able to meet me for drinks, could you recommend a decent pre-match pub/bar?

Another guy who has been missing for a while.
Welcome back JL.

I usual go into The Townley.
Only person I’ve ever met in there was Gillie, but I don’t think he goes in anymore.

He probably does. But in disguise.

When I go I ask, how will I recognise you.

I’ll be the one in the blue jersey.

Cheers mate.

The itinerary from my B&B is the Bridge Inn, the Grove Inn, some food (Bruno's looks good), the UEFA Youth League game, Mary D's, McDonalds, game, curry & refreshments, fall over.

Anyone care to stand the pace?

Cracking chippy next to Mary Ds . Beer in Mary Ds is fucking diabolical and the owner is a rag = shithole ! Everyone to there own though ! Can have a beer in the ground or city square, get a decent vibe in city square on CL nights .

Ended up having a couple of pints in the Grange Inn (Holts) between the Youth League and CL games (fucking 3 hours!), but got talking with some friendly locals, City fans, so the time passed quickly just before the game - late getting in and missed the opportunity to boo. Had a tiny plastic bottle of beer in the Etihad that cost as much as the 2 pints. And a lousy burger - what a rip-off.

I'd go to the Hoffenheim game as well but I fear it will be a dead rubber one way or the other.

Btw, been to that chippy by Mary D's previously post-match - it was good. Went to McDonalds this time after the match for a reasonably proper (or at least moist) burger.
