also this happened today:

Dmitry Rybolovlev has been arrested in Monaco for corruption and influence peddling

What, cycling?

He's the chairman of Monaco who a few years ago went through a costly divorce, forcing Monaco to sell their best players like Bernie.

AS Monaco President, Dmitri Rybolovlev, was taken into custody at the request of a Monegasque judge on Tuesday morning, 6 November, a few hours before his club's Champions League match against FC Brugge at the Louis II Stadium. The billionaire was still in custody late Tuesday afternoon, as well as several protagonists in the court case. He had been searched that very morning at his spectacular home, La Belle Epoque. Further searches were carried out in the morning.

The Russian businessman is at the heart of the judicial information opened a year ago by the General Prosecutor's Office of Monaco for acts of "corruption", "active and passive influence peddling" and complicity in these crimes. The case, which worries the highest authorities of the principality, had already caused Philippe Narmino, a prominent personality on Le Rocher, to be taken into police custody on 23 September 2017. A few days earlier, Mr. Narmino had been forced to leave his position as Minister of Justice of Monaco, under pressure from the revelations of Le Monde, which had reported, on 14 September 2017, extremely embarrassing information for the Monegasque police and judiciary.

"Monacogate"

"The personal allegations against me and the repeated attacks on the judicial institution no longer allow me to properly take charge of them," Mr. Narmino said.

Le Monde had notably revealed the content of a DVD-Rom given to an investigating judge in Monaco, and thus uncovered hundreds of SMS messages suggesting the existence of an occult network working on behalf of the billionaire Dmitri Rybolovlev, who was struggling with the local courts. In conflict with the Swiss businessman Yves Bouvier, Mr. Rybolovlev allegedly used the services of a lawyer, Tetiana Bersheda, to influence the course of justice. Many texts from smartphones....

He's also got ties with the Trumps. It will be very interesting to see how this will end.

If that's the case them I'm hoping that it ends in prison for all of them.

Also - wasn't Origi supposed to be better than Sterling

The current line is that this would be the biggest shock in the history of the game.

Only a shock if you completely ignore the dippers constantly playing down to the level of lesser teams last season. Then again having a selective memory when it comes to 'istory is a scouse specialty...

Ah so he's the russian who bought trump's house at a 150% markup and then demolished it right when trump was facing possible bankruptcy. I know politics aren't allowed on here, but it's election day. And if it goes well we may start to see the end of mango mussolini.

I think it was Jordan Ibe who is currently a bench warmer for Bournemouth. But Origi was supposed to be next big thing.

The dippers are in a real fight now. If I was a betting man, I'd put money on PSG and Napoli to go through.

Do I smell a crisis brewing?

Surely the officials will come to their aid against those nouveau riche upstarts?

They'll definitely try. But I can easily see mo salad & co losing their 4th consecutive CL away. They look so fucking flat the the moment. Like us at the end of Mancini and Peller's time here. No real direction behind their attacking, pot shots, speculative long balls, and tons of sideways passing across the back.
