He only scored 1 goal and got 6 assists last season. This season he's scored zero and had two assists. What a fantastic player..

Nice to see a change, well in Dobby.

A joke that Messi is not top 3.

Strange one Gail Platt getting it. We’ve a couple of midfielders ourselves who were far better than him over the course of the year.

Is it now being judged on international performance alone? If not they’ve a bit of explaining to do about how Mbappé or Pogba are featuring. I get Mbappé is a great talent but seriously thousands of players had better years than him or Pogba.

How many of our players won the Champions League and dragged a small nation to a World Cup final?

There is no stand out winner this year and you could make an argument for a handful of players but Modrić would have been very close to the top of my list.

Come on mate, you always get that nation that randomly does well in a tournament. There were better players for Croatia last summer than him.

Bale, Ronaldo, and Karius won the Champions League for Madrid. Modric got one goal and one assist last season in the CL...

Apart from Sweden in 1958 and England in 1966 (both of whom qualified automatically as hosts), every other country to have appeared in a World Cup final has done so on multiple occasions.

Edit: Sorry, Spain have only done so once, too.

We can agree to disagree with on that. None of the other Croatian players also won the Champions League.

I didn't say anything about getting to the final and I didn't say anything about the World Cup..

How do you define 'does well' then? It's just not quantifiable from what you've said. I'd hardly say Equatorial Guinea getting to the semis of AFCON 2015 or Tahiti winning the OFC Nations Cup a few years ago is anywhere near the same kind of achievement as Croatia being World Cup runners up with Modric being named player of the tournament.

Pretty simple really. Salah "did well" last season. Liverpool won fuck all.
