He made some mistakes, quite a few actually in the 1st half but the 2nd he was superb so on the whole he played well.
Sane however has been shocking for a while the free kick in Germany aside.

Sterling was fucking diabolical first half v Watford .

As long as we win the league that's all the matters. And if we do I'll happily travel over there and get married to BB in Vegas through the Elvis drive thru

With hindsight it looks like a tactical decision to play Sané instead of Mahrez last night - one that Pep got spot on.
Their fullbacks were abysmal and we really made the most of that, pulling them out wide and then exploiting the space between them and the centre backs. We wouldn't have been able to do that as easily if we had played with "inverted wingers".

Yes, it was definitely better than his contribution at Watford, Tottenham and Bournemouth with those winning goals.

His decision making cannot deal with the pace we play - he also needs to accept that he might have been the main man at Leicester, but he’s a junior member of the squad here, he plays for the stars not vice versa, needs to work quicker and way harder here

I've seen him track back once.

He rejoins the offensive play too slowly.

His single talent is to receive the ball, totally stop our forward momentum and speed of play and then pass it either sideways or backwards to a midfield option; indeed this is what Mahrez basically does 99% of the time and it is woeful.

He may occasionally cut in (of course he does, he's hugely left-footed on the right wing) and does something greedy like take a ridiculous pot shot into Row Z.

He isn't quick.

He can't beat an egg, let alone his man.

I've had enough of watching him and the list could go on and on. All managers make mistakes and have blind spots, Mahrez is Pep's. His price tag puts him as ou most expensive player in our entire history, which is laughable but a function only of the market not his ability. A terrible signing and I cannot understand anyone defending Mahrez given the miserable contribution he has made. He ruins our attack, plain as day. I listen to all the City podcasts and the Ian Cheeseman one has some lad on there setting out his case that Mahrez has an 'unbelievable first touch'. No, Bernardo and David have that, Mahrez doesn't. I am not sure what he has as we haven't seen anything special or even remotely approaching decent, in my opinion. Sure it's all about opinions but I have found myself eating my own fingers with this guy and it's not just petty stuff. How pep didn't remove him at HT last night is beyond me, he was having another...another...crap pile.

He's wank. He not right for our team. He offers nothing. There's no point in going on about it now. Just hope he's gone in the summer.

Just to be clear then, if there is a better player able to start a game then the squad player I.e. meh!rez should be on the bench as back up?
