how did you become a city fan

well. as im from Doncaster I have no connections at all with city, my dad was a leeds fan as he was born in Harrogate and all the family was leeds fans, I just went to watch Donny rovers, but when I went to high school [ yes I know im old ] most school mates was rovers leeds Liverpool or sheff wed, I wondered who I should be a fan of, my dad said follow whoever you want to, it is your choice. so looking through the sports section in papers, there was a team who wore the colour which was my fav colour which was blue, name of that team was Manchester City so I chose them, my dad wanted me to be a leeds fan, even went with his friends to a game, leeds won 3-0 but he knew I didn't want to be a leeds fan, so I chose city it helped that they was playing a cup final against west brom which they won, so all those years ago, I was a glory hunter and then went to first game against either Bolton in lg cup away lost 3-0 or sheff utd away drew 3-3 in div 1 which both games was around the same time in 1972

Born in Stoke, and at a very young age my mum told me that I was watching tv and City were on and I just latched on to Francis Lee and Colin Bell and became obsessed from that moment on. I remember my dad taking me to watch Stoke v City at the old Victoria Ground not long afterwards and we lost 5-1.......I was inconsolable for weeks, Franny looked as though he’d been on a major bender the night before !!!
I’ve been a passionate fan ever since, ups and downs along the way......living the dream at the moment

Went to the roughest infant school going. It would've been 1967 and all the talk was about United, George best and shit.

Being an awkward bastard all my life I decided I would support City. Very soon they rewarded me with loads of trophies. Moved us here in 68

Then it all went tits up for about 35 years and here we are

Born in Lowestoft . As far from Manchester as u could (nearly) be. Was a glory hunter from those late 60s days . Never supported anyone else in my life . Can remember my mum hunting high and low for a city shirt and I still don’t know where she got it from ? Long sleeved with badge in middle of chest I was so proud and the only kid in lowey who had one . Try to get up for a game or two a year . Lucked out this weekend as manager of local electrical supplier surprised me with two tickets for club Wembley tomorrow. Downs and now lots of ups and I’m lovin it .

Born in Didsbury into a fanatical City family. There was no choice and I'm very happy about it. Long left Manc firstly with my dad's jobs then my own choice having married a Coventry girl, but we have 3 seasoncards and I still say I'm from Manc.

I'm from Salford and my Dad was a fan of the rugby league team. He liked watching football but had no allegiance to any team. He took me to Salford games before I was old enough to understand the rules. The first kit he ever bought me was red with white "v" collar, white shorts and red socks, Salford colours. In those days shirts didn't have badges on so as i had a kickabout in the playground, people would see the shirt and shout "come on Utd" to which I'd reply "it's Salford". I got pissed off with it eventually and my hatred started to develop. The deal was sealed when my Gran who i didn't see very often turned up one easter with an egg in a Man u mug. I can't remember whether it was me or my Dad who dropped it before the front door had closed behind her. I got my first Umbro City kit on my 10th birthday in 1977 and never stopped wearing it so nobody would be in doubt. CTID.

Born in Bolton but moved down south at an early age to Hertfordshire and became a Blue at the age of 8 after having not had too much interest in football I was made to watch the 1980 F.A. Cup Final (West Ham vs Arsenal) and thought that I would watch the following year's one. Well, we all know what happened there and I was hooked for life (especially with Mum being born at Withington Hospital and a Red to boot!!).
Also growing up a Blue in the face of adversity being surrounded by hordes of shite fans from Arsenal, Spurs, Bindippers and Stretford has been fabulous and of course we are all enjoying and deserving these last few years and I would not have changed a thing!

Born in Openshaw 1944. Father took me to Maine Road in December 1950. 2nd division versus Preston. Remember Bert Trautman in goal. Preston had Tom Finney and a Scot called Mudie. They beat us 3 nil and I’ve been hooked ever since. After all these years suffer from severe Cityitis - obviously incurable! Living in Norfolk and decidedly ancient I don’t get to many games nowadays. My only other claim to fame is that I once met and talked to Don Revie - not sure about that one! Glad I lasted long enough to see the current City team, unbelievable talent.

Anyway my dad was from Whalley Range and city mad took me and our kid to maine road when we were 7 or 8 years old and that was it . Me and our kid went home and away in the 80s and 90s and did stuff with the city firms for a few years . Older and wiser now but all part of growing up and doing what you believe in . Never ever in a million years thought we would be where we are now dreams do come fucking true . CTID
