Right, here's what is now really bugging me.
The standard required for the VAR official to alert the referee is "a clear and obvious error". Can that be said of the linesman's decision not to flag offside? Of course not. He may have been wrong to the tune of six inches, but it most certainly wasn't clear and obvious that he'd made an error.
What has happened here, and it is why VAR is a licence to cheat, is that the VAR official has alerted the referee to something that was not in a million years the type of error the system is for.
Does anyone imagine for one moment that Barca would have had an identical goal reviewed and disallowed? No chance, the VAR official wouldn't have even looked at a replay.
Yes, we let three goals in, yes I'm seething, but I think we've been cheated tonight.

Wait a minute, from my knowledge, we were informed many times: VAR cannot intervine without the ref asking for it. Did the turkish bastard asked for that?

No. The reason VAR has taken so long to bring in is because they had to work out how to manipulate it.
Nothing changes, just a little more cynical.

Well the referee can request a review, but I don't believe he did. The linesman didn't flag and as far as I'm aware the ref awarded the goal. Therefore the VAR official must have alerted the referee having viewed the replay.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_assistant_refereeNote: "If the VAR believes there has been a potential clear error, the referee will be contacted with that judgment".
Absolutely no way did the linesman make a "clear and obvious error". An error, yes, based on the one TV frame lasting 1/25th second when Serge was six inches offside, but if does that really qualify as "clear and obvious"? Maybe it does, but my issue with VAR is that an official took the decision to review that goal, but under different circumstances with different teams involved they could easily have chosen not to.

Mark Halsey says it was a clear handball and shouldn’t have been given.

For me it is simple.
Pretend we are the Rags or the Dippers playing at home. Would the same decisions have been taken? Never ever ever.....
Last year we were mugged twice i.e. home and away against the Dippers.
This year we have been mugged again.
Sure we messed up in the first leg but that is the issue. We have to be perfect to have any chance.
I hate the CL more and more each year but that means I want to win it more badly with each passing year.
Revenge is a dish best served cold - our day will come.
I am absolutely steaming......again-----same as last year.

Incredible match of football. Hopefully there's enough gas left in the tank for Saturday.
Quadruple is stupid anyways.

The funny (or sad) thing about this is that last season we lost at this stage because there was no VAR. This season we lost because of VAR ! With no VAR both the spuds goal and our goal would have been granted and we would be through!!

The Champions League is a pathetic competition. It's called the "Champions League" and Spurs are playing in it FFS. The most corrupt competition in the world. We've been cheated again, lets move on.
Hopefully the players use this cheating to fuel them on Saturday.
