Cant say I blame them to be quite honest. If Salah were to be injured or van Dijk I’d not be shedding any tears myself. Indeed I’d have a little grin on my grid

He does not play, we pay his wages, help him recover, his transfer value drops like a stone as his contract runs down.
Looks like there is only one year left on his contract when he gets back playing (April, 2020?) and he will be free to talk to other clubs from Jan 2021.

Bad for him, worse for us.

Question is, would he command as big a wage from interested parties now this injury has happened? That could influence both his and the club's thinking in continued negotiations.

I see they're likely to sign Perisic. Hopefully Sane can be persuaded to sign an extension.

I wouldn't give him one while he's injured to be honest. Should have signed earlier or Bayern should have paid up and stopped posturing in the press hoping for a cut price.

Tough old world but not so bad when you rake in 100 grand a week.

chelsea gave hudson-odoi a massive new deal despite him being injured.
seems to be a curse that if bayern are courting you, you end up fucked. hopefully a lesson to other players!

He would be mad not to sign now.

We should never ever have anything to do with bayern ever again.
The way they conducted themselves was a disgrace.
And to be honest the way we let them away with it wasnt exactly our finest hour.

It should have been nipped in the bud sooner imo. It took 2 months of their players, manager, Director, owner saying they wanted to sign him for us to say something.

Clearly an awful lot more. It was rumbling on too long and only for the injury they would still be at it.

You don't play a potential transferee as a starter if there's the slightest chance of him leaving the club - so the fact he started the Community Shield tells you what?

Agree 100%. I don't think there was ever the slightest chance of him going to Bayern.

Maguire played a week before he went to the scum bags next door .

Your point isn’t valid .

IMO you just don’t play anyone that has a slight chance of being transferred - especially for a World record fee.

Madness

comes down to whether you think the Community Shield is a friendly or competitive... since we won it I'm claiming it's competitive.

Its unfortunate but look he or anyone else could have gotten this injury in training.
So yes the manager was correct to select the team he thought would win the game.
