He is no Fernandinho. You heard it here first.

Hardly first.

Now gentlemen you being serious? I watched a re-run of the whole game yesterday and I thought he did well, made a mistake or two but so did Raheem, and he got 3 goals!
First real game. I would think that he will get better.

I am being serious in stating that PP is not the first to think Rodri wont cut it here. I wasn't agreeing with him though. It think he will get better and I hope he succeeds....but I have my doubts about his ball-playing skills.

I am not too worried. Pep has a more than credible record at improving players under his direction. This lad wot be any different.
We have done our homework on him, no way splashing that amount of money on him unless Pep believes he can bring a lot to the table, but yes it will take time, it nearly always does.

I thought he did well. Much better, I have to recall, than a certain Mr Silva and a Mr Toure for the first 4 weeks or so

He can't defend, he can't attack, he can't tackle.

He is shit. There is not difference between him and a lamp.

Harsh. I thought first half he was playing well, but second half after he got booked he didn't look in it.

Can't help him having Gundo next to him though. They shouldn't be on the pitch at the same time.

Or David Silva.

His first touch if often awful, horrible for a player in his position. He doesn't track back as fast as needed, he can't defend and brings almost nothing up front. He is not a kid to be be protected by Gundogan and Silva.

We've been really spoiled by Yaya and Fern.

It's also not helping him by not letting him bed in. He's playing every match!

ok ok , we get it you have a grudge against the guy. You sure do miss a lot of the good tackles and ball winning he does do though.

He certainly wasn't the problem in midfield today .

Mahrez should not be starting a game ahead of Bernie and David Silva , is unfortunately beginning to show his age. Young phil would have been better today, if only because he is a cheeky player , not afraid of taking players on around the box, much more so than Mahrez or Merlin( these days).

I don't have a grudge against him, I just don't think he is good enough. Same as Rodwell, Javi Garcia or Fernardo.

In fairness so far he has been better than the three of those players combined.

i agree rodri wasnt great today. Indecisive and caught on the ball several times. that said, he must die inside a little every time he sees fucking gundogan on the teamsheet with him. gundo is a fucking plague on this team.

Rodri was our best midfielder by far today

Zero support from Gundo who was none existent for large parts of the game and defensively useless and as alway slow. Counter teams ALWAYS stroll past him like he’s not there

Merlin, has never been great defensively and his legs these days he’ll never be great helping defensively

Mahrez has been poor the past couple of games too

Rodri showed up everywhere and yes did get caught. But Wolves targeted him because he had no bloody support

I blame Pep today. Very poor team selection

He was. And he shouldn't have been taken off yesterday. Sterling did sweet fa and should have gone off before Mahrez.

I think Rodri looks a very decent footballer, but he ain't no Fernandinho. We ARE going to struggle with counter attacks when Rodri is doing the shielding and the only other player in the team slower than him - Otamendi - is playing centre back.

Agree but the whole issue we had was that we were not attacking them enough. For my money Bernardo should have been on central at the half and taken either Rodri or preferably gundo off. Sterling and mahrez can both get a goal from nothing.

His positional awareness isnt good enough. He never drops back alongside the center backs which Fern is really good at. There are too many gaps around the edge of the box
