He should do.

Yes.

One thing is he's not 23 yet (turns so in January), so technically he does not have to registered. Not sure if he would have to during the January/February registration of players.

He's also a club trained HG player (vs. association trained: i.e Stones, Walker, Sterling, Delph), which is more useful/valuble for CL registration. We've been using Foden and academy players.

However, are we actually keeping him or re-selling?

21 is the cut off isn't it, not 23?

21 is the cutoff for time counted towards becoming a HG player, but I believe u23's is the cutoff for counting towards registration, meaning they don't have to be registered if they've been with the club for 2 seasons.

I'm trying to look it up.

Yes, just about.

13/14 full season with the U18
14/15 full season with the EDS
15/16 four months with NYCFC, eight months with the EDS
16/17 six months with the EDS, one month with Girona, five months with Mallorca
17/18 full season with NAC
18/19 full season with PSV

All in all, a little over three years with City before he turned 21.

I thought once he's on the club's books for 3 years before 21 he's eligible? So when he's on loan he's still on City's books, in which case he would fall comfortably into homegrown?

No, since players out on loan are registered for the loaning club and not the parent club.

A "Home-Grown Player" means a player who, irrespective of nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

But you are correct that the cutoff is 21 years, more specifically players who are born on or after 1 Jan 1998 for next season, which means that Gabi Jesus now takes up a non-homegrown spot, but Douglas Luiz would be able to be put on the U21 list if he got a work permit. Angelino would take up a club-trained homegrown spot, with three remaining.

Also, Sandler is now ineligible for the U21 list, which makes it highly unlikely that he will stick around.

GK Ederson, Bravo or Riesgo, Grimshaw*
RB Walker*, Danilo or Cancelo
CB Stones*, Laporte, Otamendi, Eric García*
LB Mendy, Zinchenko, Angeliño*
DM Rodrigo, Fernandinho
AM De Bruyne, Silva, Gündoğan, Foden*
RW Bernardo, Mahrez
LW Sterling*, Sané
CF Agüero, Jesus

*HG or U21

That's ambiguous. Does a parent club not hold the player's registration when he is on loan?

No, because it's about "training" with the club in the host nation.

So, if you send a player out on loan elsewhere they will lose time as a HG player, unless you send them within Englnad, for example, and then they could at least get years towards association/nation trained.

Eric Dier, for example, is not a HG player at all for Spurs.

No, you got it wrong, mate.

For the Premier League:

Rules on U21 players

Under-21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad.

For the 2018/19 campaign Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 1997.

For the Champions League:

What is List B?

A player may be registered on List B if he is born on, or after, 1 January 1997 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday (players aged 16 may be submitted if they have been registered with the club for the previous two years). Clubs are entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season, but the list must be submitted by no later than 24:00CET the day before a match.

For 2019/20, the date will be 1 January 1998.

There is no additional requirements for the Premier League regarding the duration of registration for players under 21 years, so even recently transfered and registered players don't count against the 25-man limit (see Gabriel Jesus when he joined).

I'm beginning to concede that it's u21, which means Angelino would have to be registered, but not 100% certain.

Would have liked a different left-back to be returning but it is what it is.

There is only one left back. And he is serbian.

On the subject, I have a feeling this might turn out to be super good for us. I hope he gets game time and he is not sent again at the rezerves.

Hope after next season the left back position will not be again a subject for a while here.

Pep will probably turn Rodders into a leftback anyway. (And play Angelino in goal).

At least he actually is a left back.
It's good to have him provide cover / competition for the zinch. Two decent options at left back next season.

And the club village idiot is still injured

Decent move. 5.3M this day is next to nothing. We will get that from 2/3 EDS lads who won't have a sniff of the first team

Will be good to see what this young lad can do. Even if he’s not top notch he can at least provide depth. Possibly freeing up Zinch to play central mid?

We've seen him quite a few times for City youth and last year on TV once or twice too. But they say he's improved a lot if not maybe premier champions level yet

So yes we'll see what he is now.
