League Cup isn't the problem as it's quite early and doesn't get too competitive until after the New Year, it's the FA Cup that has a bigger effect due to having to move games late on in the season during the latter rounds of the CL.
Exactly. The league cup is actually perfect for giving games to fringe players that we will rely on later, keep them ticking over. See gundogan last season as a prime example. Its actually a very important competition for us for that reason otherwise if we call on a player in say january they may have barely kicked a ball all season and will take time to get into rhythm. By having all these games all players are staying sharp and fresh.
