Dave Replacement

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Dave Replacement

Postby Mase » Thu Oct 10, 2019 1:08 pm

Pep has said this regarding Phil:

"He is the only player that can't be sold under any circumstances. Not even for £500 million.

Phil's going nowhere. Phil is City. We won't be signing anyone else for that position. When DavId Silva leaves, we know exactly who our new magician will be"

So now that's sorted, do you think Foden can replace Dave?

I don't think anybody can replace Dave, but I'm willing to give Guardiola the benefit of the doubt.

dave's best days are long gone, and tbh we've already "replaced" him. not directly but through a combination of other players like KDB, bernardo etc. we don't need a like for like replacement any more than we did for yaya.

Mendy replace later Yaya as the overweight, lazy player?

He went off injured in the Agueeeeeroooo QPR game. Set up Zabba for the 1st then pulled up injured.
He also went off injured at the Dippers when they gave him their typical sporting reception.

Cann Foden replace Dave?

Not directly straight away. But he offers a better goalscoring threat than Silva. And KDB and Bernardo can offer as much creativity. So though he won't be directly replaced, i honestly don't think the team as a whole will suffer.

Big shoes to fill though and time will tell if he has the temperament to step up. Guess we'll find out soon enough

Agreed. And we'd better sell Foden for 500M.

Can anyone chime in on Foden who has actually seen him play significantly for City and/or England, is he a No 10 type player? Doesnt he play as a winger for England?

Get him in the side then. He couldn't be any worse than Gundowank last week.

Define significantly, he's started 15 games in all comps, I've seen new signings written off after less.

Coppell managed us for more than 15 games didn't he?!

Couldn't have, he was only at City for around a month, wasn't he?

From memory it was just over a month I think. What a time that was!

Two years ago I watched him get player of the tournament and score two goals in the final when England won the under 17s world cup.
Not too shabby.

He's had I think one premier league start against Spurs. I think that went quite well,

Unlike Michael Johnson I think Phil's for real...

3 Prem starts mate, all in that 14 game winning run at the end of last season, which suggests Pep does trust him, somewhat, although he did hook him early against Leicester.

This is a good read for perspective from Football365, note Busquets and Thiago's stats in particular
