Police Chief David Duckenfield found not guilty of manslaughter today. The jury at Mr Duckenfield's original trial earlier this year failed to agree a verdict.
There were gasps in court as the seven women and three men on the jury returned the verdict, following 13 hours and 43 minutes of discussions.

Just read that he ordered the gate opening because people were being crushed at that gate because thousands of fans turned up to try and force their way in without a ticket. It was lose lose for him.
Glad justice has prevailed.

I agree, it was always a stretch to pin all the blame on him, many variables, not one reason.

Just annoys me they've never taken ANY responsibility whatsoever! It obviously wasn't the fault of the poor people that were being crushed at the front.

It is in their DNA not to take responsibility, and then blame everything but themselves.

If you don't have a ticket to a semi final on a neutral ground, when it is a sell out why would you go all that way ?

Touchy subject but them despicable lot trying to exonerate themselves from any blame and all that . Never their fault remember ! And the fact we can only possibly talk a bit about it on here a closed forum and absolutely fuck all in public without getting a death threat says everything .
My heart goes out to all families who lost loved ones but please can it all be put to bed now , enough is enough for every ones sake .

It's the Liverpool way.

It's not changed. Some of the ways they were trying to sneak in to the Champions League final last year we're ridiculous. I also read that they were robbing their own fans tickets. They don't learn.

This is such a sensitive subject and it's very hard to discuss when there's so much pain still around. Without going into to much detail I find it absolutely appalling how so many are trying to pin the blame on one singular point of failure. Ie. The matchday Commander.

Sensible posts from 64 & Beefy in what us still an emotive subject. My heart goes out to the families of the victims still to this day. I remember coming out from Blackburn away and hearing of it on the day it happened and there were a lot of blues in tears saying it could have been us. The sad truth is that it would not have been us as we would not have travelled in such large numbers without tickets and created such a situation. Unfair to attempt to find a scapegoat

"No evidence to support the theory that there were hundreds of fans without tickets" doesn't mean it didn't happen.
How would you spot fans without tickets retrospectively from TV pictures? And would you expect any Liverpool fans to own up to it afterwards.
Maybe they should engage Merseyside police to study the video coverage of the day - they have experience in identifying culprits in videos after all.
Taken from the accepted sequence of events, even printed in the Liverpool Echo :
2.48pm: One of those gates, Gate C, is opened. It was not opened on orders from the police control box but by police in the area to eject a fan. It was closed after 26 seconds and around 150 supporters are believed to have entered.

Everyone hates the truth especially Liverpool fans . My heart bleeds for anyone who lost members of their family on that day . But and it’s a massive but you cannot lay the the blame on one man who was doing everything he could in a situation
