how do we protect them from themselves?

Haven’t recovered from moving fern. Teams break on our back four so easily. It’s pretty embarrassing.

Just when you think fuck it the league is gone but we’re playing again we can start to enjoy, typical city turn up.

I actually think that Fernandinho is the problem. He is not a CB but is being asked to provide an assurance that he just isn’t giving.

Not a mention of how he got outfought leading up to the own goal.

Love the bloke but he just hasn’t proved to be a decent replacement. Combine him being at the back and losing his temperament in midfield, it makes the situation even worse.

PeP said hes fantastic at the back - so much so that he left Garcia and Otter on the bench a few weeks back.

We need to stick with the back 3.
Until we can get Laporte back and until we can get someone else good enough to play with him.

Problems all over tbh. Thinking about it, 72% possession, 25 chances, 14 corners = not good enough.

That’s not the full context though, mate, you have to give credit to Palace for being so tenacious in defence. We don’t mention it often now but every team we face now seem to park the bus. There were very little clear cut chances which meant we were trying all sorts to get a shot away. I think our Xg thingimebob was around 2.6 and there’s less than 1. Combine that with 10 shots off target and 9 blocked shots it said how well their defensive shape held up. They even seemed first to very second ball.

Our problem is not in the goal scoring, it’s in the defensive area. 2 goals scored would usually be a win for any top team, we just don’t seem to have the capacity to stop quick breaks. Oh, and I’m not really having a go at individual players, it’s just where we are at the moment with a ramshackled defensive group not covered by our midfield system.

Who's our set piece coach?
All we need to do is score from one in ten corners, and that would sort everything.

Sending the ball into a packed area hoping to hit one of our midget’s shouldn’t be a tactic. We should just use it as a dead ball situation and pass it back to restart the play.

For us, corners are a waste of fucking time.

We've been shite at corners for over 10 years. When Barton was taking them he never beat the first man and that trend seems to have continued.

That's the point though, we get so fucking many of them.
If corners were goals we'd be winning every game 27-1
I know we're a team of midgets and we;re never going to get our heads on these balls
Which is why I asked who our set piece coach is.
There's got to be a way to turn our squillion corners per match to some sort of advantage, as opposed to what it is now, just giving it to the other sise

As someone stated above - they should just put the ball back into play with a short corner , anything else is a waste of fucking time.

It was embarrassing watching our corners yesterday. Ball into the middle of the area and Stones, the only player yesterday with height, has gone to the near post leaving their keeper to collect the ball completely unchallenged. And why does Fernandinho go up for them? He is what, maybe 5ft 10in and didn't go up when playing in midfield so if Rodri is playing let him go up and Fernandinho can take up his old position. We obviously don't work on set pieces - defensively or attacking - in training. If we spent half the time we currently spend on videos for the website and social media on set piece training we would be superb at them.

Horton is the best manager we've had out of all them.
