I don’t think it’s out of order for fans to want to see us win. The mentality of “oh well, we used to be shit so let’s just enjoy what we can” is what will stop us from ever becoming an elite club. We’ve spent billions since then so expectations are higher.
I personally think the fans that have the attitude of not being bothered if we lose because we were shit once are terrible fans.
I’m not sure he’s saying that fans aren’t bothered, that’d be a ridiculous statement, I think it’s more of we as fans cannot help what happens on the pitch apart from supporting the team, and when we lose our prior experiences give us a sense of perspective.
This season has been a slump compared to what we have achieved but for the media to say it has been a disaster (heard that last night) is very much wide of the mark. We’ve been attacked from all areas using any angle to rubbish both the club and fans. It’s been open season on all and sundry and it’s down to all of us to fight our corner.
Interestingly, the big attacks on the club have mellowed a little and I’m unsure why. Is it because we aren’t at the top or is it because we are doing things in the background to subdue their attacks?
