Rags v Champions Pre Match

Postby Harry Dowd scored » Fri Mar 06, 2020 3:50 pm

I know it’s only Friday, but it’s a derby so plenty to discuss, especially now those rags are reinvigorated winning 6 of last 9 games, somebody called Bruno is the new Ronaldo, and, they have won both at the Etihad. Their fans are giving it large as well, looks like a tough game against such formidable opponents.
Hopefully KDB is fit to give us a fighting chance, Lawro on bbc website has predicted 1-1 would we be happy with that? Well not me, I want revenge for those home defeats, hope Pep realises how important these games are to the club and fans, I sometimes get the feeling he doesn’t, but hey that could be me, anyway come on City !

Even if Pep hasn't grasped the importance of the derby, and I'm sure he has, the players will. We are miles ahead of the rags and the two home defeats were aberrations. We will win this

Been a lot better at the swamp than at home in recent years so hoping this trend continues. These are fucking shite, let's have it right and to lose twice to them is unacceptable so we had better put that right

All my rag mates are spunking over Bruno, McTominay and Ighalo bringing the best form of their season so far. Would love us to dominate and get a cushy scoreline. 0-3 then onto Arsenal on the Wednesday, that will do me nicely.

KDB being out could mean Foden gets game time, but if our strongest squad is available we should play it. The derby is always huge.

The last time we scored more than two in a premier league game was Villa away January 12 the score - 6-1 so hope your score criterion is met

It’s the same everywhere like I said earlier Bruno is like the second coming, and Ighalo the new Zlatan ffs, then Mc boatieface the next Roy the nutter Keane, well we will see, however one thing is true, they are a dirty set of cloggers, methinks we will get injuries here.

Had a check of this ‘9 game unbeaten run’ that the sycophants keep bringing up and thought I’d put it into context.

They’ve played 5 cup games in that ‘Not losing’ run, 2 against the Brilliant Brugge, 1 against Terrific Tranmere, 1 against the Dastardly Derby and, of course, our game where they won the 2nd leg but lost the tie.

For the PL they did beat Watford and Chelsea but drew with Everton and Wolves, meaning no losses and not a bad tally of 8 out of a possible 12.

But that’s not the bigger picture because, as always, it fails to address the wider form. When we look at form in the PL you would normally use the last 6 games and when you factor the extra 2 games the reality is somewhat different. The 2 preceding games were against Liverpool and Burnley, where they lost both 2-0 with their play being quite shit.

So, I make that 8 points from a possible 18 and 5 games against an opposition who are either nowhere near their level or were just ensuring that they won the overall tie.

Just wanted to get it out there for when the PR spin gets you thinking that they have been better than they actually are.

PeP has lost half his games against these cunts (Shocking stat considering the Munchens have been the worst Munchen side in living memory ) but thankfully we have done better at their shit hole than our own home.

If we don't miss our chances, that we will invariably get, then we will win .....1-2
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

Further to this analysis there are some points to make about the rag victories.
The Chelsea game was a travesty of justice, slab head should have been red carded for kicking Batshuayi in the bollocks, then Zouma had a goal disallowed in contentious circumstances, it appeared Fred had pushed the Chelsea player not the other way round.
The Watford game sounds resounding 3-0 but Watford were well in the game missing chances till Foster gave the ref the opportunity to give rags a pen.
The Brugge game, again sounds easy win, but Brugge well in the game until one of their players inexplicably dived and hand balled even though the keeper was behind him, in any other sport there would be an enquiry, the guy was sent off and rags get a pen of course.
Even the Everton 1-1 had a contentious end to the game, Everton thought they had won with a last gasp winning goal, but you guessed it disallowed again by VAR in the reports after Clattenburg said the goal should have been allowed.

So, within the six from nine statistic, there is evidence the rags have, shall we say had their share of good fortune. Let’s hope said fortune runs out Sunday.
A stat of ours that is a worry, we have not scored more than two in a game since January 12, the 6-1 win at Villa, hope there is an omen there.
