Weirdly enough, that Arsenal match where we lost 1-5 is one of my favourite matches. Actually being able to watch that Arsenal team in the flesh was a blessing.

I remember experiencing a huge sense of relief when Wigan scored, because I was dreading the thought of having to sit through another thirty minutes of that shite.

Then, just to put the tin hat on it, just as we left the stadium the rain came down in monsoon proportions, and I was saturated.

A miserable moment indeed.

We had a walk back to the Green Man, got absolutely soaked in the downpour and then the air con broke on the coach back so it was just blasting out cold air on us. A horrible day. I didn’t go back to Wembley for a good few years after.

Quite recent, but not being able to win the title at home vs the rags when we were 2-0 up at half put me in a funk for awhile. Especially knowing the chance will most likely never come again

On a positive note, we drew 1-1 with such a great team over the last 70 minutes

I think they were 4-0 up in the first 20 minutes.
Eyal Berkovic's son was in my daughters class at the time and when i spoke to him about it he was scathing about Dunne, Howey and Sun Ji Hai.

Dunne had a torrid time against Henry. I’m sure Keegan put Dunnie right back that match, and he never stood a chance!

Speaking of Berkovic - I liked when he was being interviewed by Sky, and the presenter asked him if he preferred Celtic or West Ham out of his former clubs and he answered “neither - its City”.

Was great to watch upto 4.0, but I was back in the pub in Heywood by half time. So glad we had our revenge by smashing them just as badly in recent years with an equally great team

The misery of that day goes way beyond the football......was sat in a bar in Bahrain, needed a piss so told my wife to put the contents of my account (a good few hundred quid after some lucky weekends) on Wigan to win the tie as soon as Zabba was sent off, as we were already playing gash and the odds were really generous.

At full time, I I sat waiting for my winnings to credit thinking there had been some mistake I was about to fire a message off to customer service after an hour ......................but there was a mistake, she'd put it on City the daft cunt.

Ouch!

Imagine she had to redeem herself in some way after that.....

Hope you’re well Sparty

'81 Cup Final and Serge's VAR "offside" against the Spuds.

I'll never get over either of those.

And then the VAR intervention in the 1st home game this season against them in stoppage time. Brilliant finish from Jesus.
Lloris was laughing his head off - he said post match he couldn't believe it wasn't allowed.
We battered them that day.
